faded malono Red Tsx

so i called up the dealer and told them about the situation on my 06 malono red tsx, i told them that the car only had 60,000 miles and all horizontal surface are all pink, there reply was "there's nothing we can do" im so angry at the fact that i take so damn good care of the car and the paint is just dying away right in front of my eyes, anyways is there anything i can do about this situation anybody else with the same problem? thanks

Get Acura customer service involved as a first step. Request taht a district manager look at it.

sorry to hear that-I agree-call acura customer service-
Do you have any pictures you can post.
I also own a 06 Milano red tsx but luckily (besides the numerous chips on the hood) the paint still looks excellent. I wash and use quick detailer on it often. It also gets a good compound wax once a year. It is garage kept. It now has almost 125,000 miles.

Honda Milano Red/San Marino Red have no clearcoat so you must keep the paint polished and waxed or the paint WILL turn pinkish. It's the owners responsibility to keep their cars paint in tip top shape. What I think you should do is clay bar your car, use a good rubbing compound/polish, and then wax the car. This should bring paint close to new.

Visit the wash & wax forum in off topic and see if there is anyone there who can help you. Lots of detailers hang out there and might be able to give you some advice.

we owned a 91 red mazda mx-6 gt that had "faded" paint. We took it to a detailer shop. They did an excellent job.

I think black is a harder color to maintain than the red.

I have a milano red 00 civic si. I also bought a milano red 09 Fit since I loved the color. Side by side you could tell the paint was somewhat faded on the civic. The civic's paint is shiny too cause it's been taken care of and garage kept. I believe you just have to take more care of red paint.

This is exactly y I told my 04 TSX. The whole car was beginning to fade and I just didn't want to put any money into fixing it. Hope you can get something resolved!

If you couldn't take the time to polish/wax your car 1-2x's a year which isnt expensive, you dont deserve to own a red car or any black care for that matter in my eye's but that's def my .02.

Actually the person who owned the car before me didn't take care of it. My car sits in the garage an it was waxed all the time.

The last sentence is the operative one here. Interesting discussion (well, not.....) and I've assumed it was well known that red is by far the most difficult color to keep from fading (non-metallic that is). Just look around and you'll see any number of red cars (and manufacturers) that are faded or have begun to. The Honda's may fade faster, and clear coat may delay it (though I also would be surprised to learn that the red has clear coat over it), but it seems like it's inevitable (and yes, as with everything, there are exceptions).

I experienced the same fading on my 2005 Milano Red TSX, the car is garage kept and has been waxed every three months since it was new. The fading is definitely not due to lack of proper care. I asked the dealership if they would have their district manager look at the paint, the district manager agreed to pay for 50% of the cost to repaint the entire top of the car and they provided a loaner while it was getting fixed. I did have to pay for the cost to fill in the paint chips but everything turned out great, the car now looks like new. The car was 7 years old when they agreed to do the work. I recommend telling them that you have read several forums online and this appears to be a defect based on the number of people that are having the problem.

I too have a faded Milano "red" 06 TSX. It was actually faded when I bought it, but the dealership had somehow disguised it so it was not visible during the 3 separate test drives I did. They washed it while I was finishing my paperwork and at that point I was so excited to get in and drive home I didn't notice until the SECOND I stepped out of the car at home- first thing I noticed. Went back the next day and they pretty much said tough potatoes and that they'd wax it for free to see if that helped.

Anyway.... enough with the sob story. I have researched this to death and taken the car to several car washes, detail salons, and paint/body repair places, and have had no luck in finding a way to repair the paint short of having it repainted. It's kind of funny now after almost 3 years because literally every time I go to a new car wash or detail place, there is some superstar detail guy who thinks he can buff/polish the fade out....I tell them to go ahead and give it their best shot, no one has succeeded yet unfortunately. If you search "milano red" in the wash and wax forum you'll find numerous threads with others who have had the same problem. On top of the inevitable fading, the paint is also notorious for chipping.

Your best bet- sell it now before the fading gets worse!!

Faded Milano Red

04, same problem when i bought it with 67k miles, badly faded on trunk and hood, some on the quarters and fender tops. thought maybe the PO had buffed a little too hard but sounds as if it's a factory paint issue.
