Excessive Vibration.

Hi guys.. Aside from the weird idle rattle that I get from time to time that has the dealers perplexed.. I also noticed that I feel a lot of vibration in the cabin from time to time...almost like when you first start the car cold. When I shift to neutral, the vibration stops..

Is that caused by the comptech header and random cat that I have installed? Is there such thing as stronger exhaust bushings?

Also, I don't have the front bumper weight on the car since i had the icebox installed. Do you think that would help minimize the vibration? Thanks.

If it is a 5AT, you're in D and you are stationary on the brakes, then it will vibrate. Happens to most 4-cyl cars.

Same vibration problem on my 2004 TSX

I have the same problem on my 2004 TSX. It vibrates when in D or R. Vibration stops when in P or N. This didn't happen until a couple of months ago and I have over 20k miles.

Any idea why this is happening?

rbilbao, how bad is the vibration? I'm not sure what the cause of it was..

I think i'm the only TSX on the planet with the idle rattle problem when the car is in D, SS mode, or R...but the occassional heavy vibration is annoying too.

I have a feeling that putting the bumper weight back on may help it bit. The dealer wanted to charge me $120 to put it back on.. sucks so much.

I'll have them check the motor mounts next time i'm at the dealer.

Thanks for the Service Bulletin. The symptom description fits excatly with the vibration I'm getting in my TSX. I can take this to the dealer and not have to guess.

Thanks again.

I highly doubt it. I just posted the TSB as a reference to show that this vibration problem does exist.. at least in the accord.

I see.

How about JDM'ing the TSX and bringing it to a Honda dealer with this TSB in hand? Think they would go for it?

I also have this problem on my brand new AT, and was starting to worry until I did a search for it on these boards and found that it is a very common problem. It only happens when the AC is on (which being I'm in Florida, is pretty much all the time) and accelerating will stop it at once, or I can just wait a second and it'll stop on its own. Kinda disappointing for such an otherwise smooth car. I had a loaner TSX which I don't remember it happening that much with though. I figure I'll mention it tthe next time I'm around a dealer and see what they have to say. The Accord TSB describes it to a T though.

Also someone else said that adjusting the "rubber stops on left and right sides of engine bay right above the headlights" would help dampen the rattling, but didn't seem to work for most people.
