Electrical system shut down

I was on vacation last week driving down the interstate going about 70-75mph and the electrical system appeared to shut off. The panel lights went out, the navi turned off, the cooling system shut down (a/c was already off), and the car started slowing down. The engine was still on but applying gas did nothing. The only thing still lit up was the clock and the radio. I coasted to a stop and shut off the engine. Turning the engine back on seemed to reset everything and the car worked normally. It was as if the computer system crashed and 'rebooting' it fixed the problem. Anyone had this problem or have any ideas as to what the issue is?

That's a new one to me. One of my friends had a similar problem in his Civic and it turned out to be a pinched wire behind the dash. If it happens again, I'd definitely take a trip to your friendly neighborhood acura dealer.

It could be just a fluke happenning, but if there is another occurance, you definitely need to have it looked at.

Yeah, what they said.

Please let us know if it happens again and what your dealer had to say about it.

I would think that the ECU *might* store this trouble code. I say you need to have it looked at the first time.

Since the TSX is totally drive-by-wire, it's more susceptible to this sort of thing.

That would suck if you were turning left in front of someone cutting it kinda close and you lost power ... sounds serious to me.

Same thing happened to my sister, she even got that blue electrical smoke coming out of the vents, the dash lights did the flicker thing and went out. The only thing still lighting up was the radio. She went to the dealer and they said it was a common problem, they gave her an appointement to change all the center panel (i.e. radio, temp control)

but no signs of no throttle response...
