DVD disc is reading an error

Hello! I have one big problem wih my Honda Accord 2.4. Executive 2003.
When i start engine or insert original navi DVD into my NAVI unit, after some seconds get this text in navi screen: DVD disc is reading an error. Sometimes it works normally, but most of time write this text. Can anyone help me? Thanks a lot!

Sorry for picture qallity – it was taken by GSM.

I would say it's safe to say that it's one of two things:

1) Your Navi disc is corrupted in some way (ie. a scratch or the DVD itself has been possibly damaged by temperature extremes)

2) Your DVD drive that holds/reads the DVD has gone/is going bad

Your Honda dealership would be able to better diagnose. Or, you could possibly narrow it down if you have a friend who has a Honda or Acura which uses the same version of Navi DVD as you. You can try to use his/her disc to see if the errors disappear. If they do, it's your disc. If they don't, it's most likely your drive unit.

Have you tried to clean the disc and reinsert it? I'd try that before I think about replacing the head unit.

If your disc is scratched and corrupted, you may get it polished for about $5.00 at your nearest DVD rental store, because I am afraid it will cost you $$$ for a new replacement.
