Dropped something in gas tank

I got a question for anyone who can shed some light. I added some fuel injector cleaner to my 2004 Acura TSX, I thought it would be a good idea add this at around 50k miles. Everything seems ok for now, but I'm kinda waiting for something bad to happen soon. You see, when I was adding that treatment the little gasket-type-styrofoam piece also fell in the gas tank. My question is: Is my semi-luxury car's gas tank designed for a dummy like me with a grate of some kind to catch foreign objects that I might have dropped inside of it? Or should I count the days before it clogs up some fuel filter somewhere?

thanks,

Mike

It will probably end up being caught by your fuel filter. The fuel injector cleaners are good. I use it every 5000 miles. You'll definitely notice better pickup.

There's a mesh "sock" at the bottom of the fuel pump in the tank, so whatever you've dropped in there isn't going anywhere.

what ever happened to the spring loaded metal cover that used to be in the honda fuel filler opening? when did they get rid of them and why?

i think you'll be fine. while this wouldn't have stopped that from falling in, they would prevent a lot of other things from falling in.

This one in particular was gumout fuel injector cleaner. Some have the rubber gasket type insert, others have a styrofoam.
