Driver's window
Driver's window
I have been having some cold weather driver's window issues. The day I bought the car (12/10) the rear passenger window motor went and was replaced by the shop I bought it from.
For as long as I can remember the front driver's window has always raised and lowered a bit more slowly than the rest. A few days over the last few months the driver's window has not lowered. I can see it start to move, but it looks like the motor does not have enough torque to move it. This only happens on cold days, sub 20F. I have to badge into my parking lot at work so I use the windows every day. All of my other windows work flawlessly even in the cold.
Is there anything I can do? I believe my front driver window has been broken in teh past. It is the one window not tinted and it does not say honda/acura on the glass. Might there be something stuck in the track?

Some likely possibilities; damaged regulator or dirty/sticking window run channel.
If run channel is damaged (gouged or cut), a new run channel can be installed. check video by ericthecarguy on youtube for Accord (similar).
You will need to remove the door panel to examine the movement and determine source of problem. You can clean run channel w/ window down using small brush w/ long handle or attached to extension stick.
Get a shop manual to guide door panel removal.
You may need to separate window from regulator to test regulator movement.
good luck

I assume I shoudl buy trim tools. Will I likely encounter a sheet of plastic behind the door panels infront of the glass? Of course without a garage I think I will have to live with the problem if cleaning the tracks does not work.
No special tools necessary, but a large flat blade screwdriver w/ tape on point to protect paint will work to pop the spring rivets holding door panel on.
Look on ebay for accord, TSX door panel removal or window regulator replacement. All Acura/Honda door panels are similar in my experience.
You need a shop manual for guidance on location of screws; behind interior door latch release and at bottom of interior door handle, usually.
