Driver side seatbelt buckle

Hey,

My husband and I noticed that the driver side seatbelt buckle keeps rubbing against the seat or the b-pillar. We are getting a little scratches on the b-pillar. We don't have that problem on the passenger side and the seat is placed in the exact same spot. Any ideas to fix the problem, besides being extremely careful (slowly) taking out the seatbelt buckle.

Thanks.

Can you post a pic? Do you all not wear the seat belt?

We wear the seat belt - it's getting it out between the seat and b-pillar when we are about the buckle it. Each time we get it out of the space - it rubs against the b-pillar, then scratches... GGRRR. So now, we take our time getting the buckle between the seat and pillar. I just find it weird that we don't have that problem on the passenger side - like if there was more space in the gap.

I will post a pic to show the space once I take one.

Thanks!

I sit pretty far back and I'm thinking it has to do more with seat adjustment. My seat buckle actually rests on the seat. Not marks whatsoever on my B-pillar.

Maybe you can try sticking Clear 3M film or clear non-abrasive tape to protect that side area that rubs against with the seat belt.

If all else, might just have to end up moving the seat back

I have a similar problem but it's during unbuckling the seat belt. Everytime I unbuckle the seat belt, I actually use my hand to help the buckle return to its resting position instead of letting it go.

I have the same exact problem as Adrena. I just resigned myself to the fact that it'll do this I can't think of a clear fix.

Buy a more expensive car with higher grade plastics that don't scratch as easy

You may want to try seat belt cushions. I bought the Acura one's off Ebay. They feel like felt and have the Acura logo and name embroider. Of course it doesn't allow the seatbelt to go all the way up because of the cushion, so the buckle doesn't go all the way up and hit the b-pillar. Or you can get some nice furry ones at your local auto parts store. These cushions not only help make the seat belt more comfortable but will help prevent seat belt burn in case of an accident.
