Driver Seat Moves

A couple of months ago, I asked about driver seat moving, and plenty of you responded with great information. I *finally* went to the dealer, with two other problems (clutch pedal squeak, headlight condensation) and they replaced the headlight and "fixed" the clutch squeak (for now).

They told me that to "fix" the driver seat, they'll need my car for two days, and have to send it to the upholsterer (sp?) shop as well. Would someone please enlighten me as to why the seat has to go the the upholsterer for what appears to be a seat rail problem?

Many and profuse apologies if this is a really stupid question, or, if this has already been discussed (I couldn't find an posts, but I may have missed it).

Thanks!!

My dealership replaced the entire seat base, about 1/2 day work of shop work (drop off in AM, pick up at lunch). That fixed it for a good while (over a year) but since I'm about 215-220 lbs, it came back (although very minimal).

On the invoice when I had the driver's seat squeak fix:

"6111 Verified noise from driver's seat back area. Removed driiver's seat back panel & found wire frame rubbing against lumbar adjuster. Insulated frame from adjuster & road tested. Found noise gone. Re-installed seat back panel with new clips. Also performed repair per S/B #06-018."

I guess my problem was with the seat back as well as the seat rail carpet issue.

Drats, time limit.

Maybe they need to make sure everything is put back together correctly? Maybe something about the insulation or carpetting needed for the S/B fix?

I took my 04 TSX to Frankel Acura in MD. The service adivsor said " Oh..the movement is within manufacture's specs ". What a pile of crap! He called me back with a promise to fix the problem with free oil change when I gave them a rating of "2" for Acura survey_(phone survey). I took it to Norris Acura and had it fixed under warrenty. They ordered new seat rails for my car b\c when they tighten it the first time , movement came back within 2 weeks. Take it to a dealer that cares about what the customer thinks.

There is only one Acura dealership here. So I'm stuck. It will be very interesting to see what the "fix" will be listed on the work order.

Something that is really annoying with my driver's seat is when I go to unclip the seatbelt...for some reason when I do this it sends a shaking feeling through the entire seat. My 05 didnt do this so Im wondering what the deal is. Sort of annoying.

Well, it seems lilke my dealership is doing something very similar. When I dropped it off this morning, he said that they had to order the entire seat bracket. From that, I'm guessing that it's "integrated" in some fashion that an upholsteror is needed. I was told that there was an outside chance to get it today - nope. So, looks like Monday.

Hopefully, this will fix the movement.

I don't think mine required an upholsterer at all -- from what I know, the seat base is the entire assembly below the actual leather and foam.

I think it was #5 from this picture: Clicky

Got the car back this morning. The seat definately feels differently from prior to dropping it off. But, this could be me since I drove four different cars this weekend - two Acuras, one Honda and one Toyota. Right now, even my computer seat feels different!

But, the seat had not - yet - moved either laterally nor forward/back. We'll see how long this "fix" lasts.
