Door Sqeaks

okay well i guess at the 10k maintence all they did was do a half-assed job rotating the tires and replacing the oil. why would the rotate the omni directional stock tires like the uni ones. the moved the fronts to the back and back foward...argh

well i went to autozone and they gave me some diaelectric grease to put on the doors. i put it on the right rear side and it still squeaks, maybe im not doing it correctly... im not very happy right now with acura.

finished my tire road rash fixing job today. looks halfway decent now, just a big project, and you need tons of patience.
i have pictures if u guys want.

thnx again

honestly the ammount of work thats involved in doing it your tire would have to be really rashed. i had half the edge of my rim gone and i still think i did more work than was really necissary. the biggest problem is the paint, there is no paint to match properly, and the ones that are out you have to be really really good at it for it to blend,

now theres no discolored road rash just an offsilver spot with some grey primer seeping through.

never fixed mine, tried all kinds of lubricants. going to take it in to the dealership and hopefully they'll replace it (after a fight I assume)

I believe i read somewhere that there's a special recommended lubricant that comes from Japan that the dealer used. I think the dealer actually used it to fix a squeek and a rattle.

It's a silicone grease called Shin-Etsu. Does anyone have experience with it?

Where are you hearing the squeak? Is it near the top of the window?

dielectric grease is for electrical fittings. not to stop rattle. I agree with JTso Lithium is the way to go.

A loud screech as the door moves past the detent indicates a broken hinge. This is a very common wear issue with pressed-steel hinges. The hinge will continue to function perfectly when broken, but under protest because the two parts of the hinge tube wearing against each other at the break. You may feel the door drop half a centimetre as it crosses the detent. Grease will be a fix for a week or two, but the screech will return until the hinge is replaced.

Sorry - there was a typo in the 3rd sentence, which should have read: "The hinge will continue to function perfectly when broken, but under protest because the two parts of the hinge tube are wearing against each other at the break." When there is a hairline break in a door hinge, the crack becomes the new bearing surface: the two parts wear on each other at the break, hence the squeak.

My own problem is a low volume rattle in both doors, which only shows up at high speed.

are you talking about the two hinges that are mounted on the car or that black piece that slides into the door? the door opens fine and it doesn't drop a centimeter like you said. please elaborate.
