DIY: Door/Door lock rattle Fixed

Ok I finanly discovered where my rattle is coming from. I get this rattle from my driver side door and found out it was the door lock rod. To fix this rattle you will need to unscrew the rod if you own an 04 or 05, otherwise the procedure is a little more difficult. Tape the rod with a little electrical tape and screw it back on. I personally took it off and not planning to put it back in. I leave the rod in the car just in case my door lock stop working; in that case I just screw it back in.

Hey thanks...that rattle in my driver's door has been getting on my nerves. It's annoying when my accura sounds like tin cans and my mom's camry is so much quieter and smoother. I can't even turn up the sound system without things rattling.

Which rattle is this? When you close the door or when you bump music?

Its just a rattle that sounds like it's coming from inside the driver's door panel near the lock area. I hear it occasionally on rough roads but mostly when I'm playing music that isn't too loud but has strong bass. (Jack Johnson is a good example). When the highs/voices are loud I can't hear the rattle as much but it is there none the less. I don't have any experience taking panels off or anything and I can't help but thinking that taking it off might make things looser and make the rattle stronger. I need to get ahold of some detailed pictures/instructions before I attempt the lock rod fix.

If you have an 04 or 05 model all you have to do is unscrew the lock rod. For 06-08 it is more complicated. My rattle is consistent with or without music.

There is another solution to the problem, I took the rod out and lubricate it with silicone lube and spray some in the hole. Screw the rod back in and problem fixed.

Whenever you hear rattles fromt he lock rod repeat the procedure. I have been driving for a few days now and still no rattle from the door.

I will post picture soon.
