Dealership Rant (Sorrry long post)

Hey guys,

Not sure where to put this, so mods so what will you will if it needs to be moved…well anyway I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems With Rallye Acura, Personally I’ve had quite a few, Rmatic also uses Rallye with no problems.
TSX related they gave me crap when I went in because my speakers were buzzing, trying to accuse me at first of blowing the speakers, and then saying there was nothing wrong with the car, and my Radar detector was interfering, never even looked at the speakers, played w/ my radio station for about 5 minutes and then tried to get money from me, Second problem TSX wise was when I went in to get them to turn off the idiot light for service, they kept on saying that I shouldn’t of switched the car to Synthetic, and that I should let them do change it, rather then do it myself, and a whole bunch of other crap, got to go back this week for that Trunk harness recall and an inspection(didn’t realize I’m a little past due heheh), gonna be a lot of fun to see what happens with the Honda badges

Well latest Rant is as follows: I just got home from some long TSXless weeks at school, I get home from hanging out w/ my friends, around 2am, and talk to my mom for a little bit…. My mom has a MDX, and I found out while I was way, she was having braking problems (just some shimming or something, prob just needed new pads) but she went to Rallye and now she was experience “Wheel Rub” on the fenders, so I was like no way…drove it around and whenever I made a hard left, I heard a definite Sound of the Wheel Rubbing, so I'm like what the hell, pull my car up, use my bright's as a flashlight and crawl under the MDX…and this is what I find

For those of u who cant tell what’s wrong from these pictures, a piece of plastic was forcibly bent back, so someone could gain access to the suspension, and then left forced away, and this was poking out more then enough to rub against the wheels… somehow they didn’t notice this, (pictures might not due it justice but its sticking out a good 3 inches)…
Im gonna fix it tomorow , just figured u guys would get a good rise out of this....

yeah, i don't see the point of you fixing it... i'd take it to acura and bitch at them. tell your parents to do the bitching for you. what if their lack of attention to detail caused a flat tire? furthermore, you should contact acura directly about this problem... there are numerous threads about contacting acura.

if that was my car, the service center at the dealership would be getting a whole lot of yelling from me.

Brent go bitch at them , leave it alone . That way you can leave them at fault, and then you can call them out on their bullshit.

acura of riverside refused to service my brakes under warrenty due to loud squeaking, so took my tsx to south coast acura and they resurfaced my rotor and put on new pads. point is: take your car to another place for service.

I dont even go to them for service, do everything myself, however, I go to them due to Geographical Convinece...there about a 20 minute drive from my house, as opposed to an hour to get to Island Acura, the next closest dealer...so it kinda makes sence to go to them.... Could a Honda Dealer touch our cars or Acura only?

Any semi-decent independent mechanic in the LA area can handle Honda/Acura stuff with no problems.

I really don't get some of you guys' obsessions with going to the dealers. Maybe in some locations that's the only way to get decent service but in LA it's always been understood that dealerships of popular brands are nothing but a training ground for the good independents who end up specializing in those same brands. Believe me, anybody who's worked for a Honda or Acura dealership around here is either new at the job, or not all that great.

I wouldn't bother with a dealership in the LA area EXCEPT for warranty service or for service on some of the more unique components (like Navi, for example). Basic mechanical maintenance, I'll go elsewhere...

I really dont go to the dealer, or any other mechanic for that matter, for the most part every wrench thats been on the TSX was my own... a few things i had to go to the dealer for, ex was the speaker problem, which I ended up handiling on my own, I have to go there for the Taillight Recall B.S.....so i figured id get an inspection there as well, because im well past due, and will defenutly get a ticket if im stopped at this point..

Good policy. Though in the New York area (like here in LA) there have got to be dozens, if not hundreds, of very qualified independents who'll do a better job than the dealers on basic mechanicals and safety stuff.

Forgot about the annual New York safety inspection. It's been a long while.
