Code P0341 and VSA ON
Hello guys,
About three weeks ago, after a cold start, I had the MIL and VSA both on. I stoped tha car, restart and only the MIL stayed on. At that time I didn't have an OBD2 tool so imediately I ordered one. The next morning, after few kilometers the MIL went off and didn't came back until today.
Today, the same problem: on cold start MIL and VSA both on. I checked with my new OBD2 tool and the code P0341 came on (Camshaft position sensor A - Bank 1 CKT Range/Perf). My TSX 2004 is 162,000km, oil changed at dealer at each 8,000km as specs.
I read here a horrible story about changing chain, tensioner, etc and valves and pistons damage.
Is that the only cause of this code camming on?
Any idea about the cost of changing chain, tensioner and arm at canadian dealers? Please help.
Thanks,
Mike.

I forgot to tell you that my last oil change was done by a Honda dealer 4 weeks ago and they put some 5w20 semi-synthetic honda oil. Is not 5w30 as specified in manual, could that be a problem???

Yeah, problem solved... costed me 1000Cad at stealer te replace the timing chain, tender, arms and some other parts in the timing department.
I was happy with Honda products until now... not anymore. It's outrageous to replace a timing chain at 160k.

I can definitely understand the dislike you have now. One of the most important things a timing chain needs is oil. If your 04, like many of them, burn oil over the course of each oil change and you aren't diligent about checking it, you end up with an oil starvation issue EVEN IF you don't ever see the oil light. One person on here had a situation where they didn't burn any oil, but because of the way they parked on an incline sideways every day, on restart, they caused an oil starvation issue. Unlucky yes and unfair, yes. Only recommendation, check your oil level regularly.

"replace the timing chain, tender,"
you mean you replaced the tensioner?
No damage to engine?
Guys, how much is it to change timing chain and tensioner at a dealer as a preventative measure? In other words, changing them before they break.

I asked my mechanic buddy from Acura who went independent. He said, "If you keep your oil at full, it should never go." So I check every month.
