check emission system. help

Recently while I was driving the VSA check light and the emissions check light went on. The
car
also jerked. It is a 2006 automatic TSX. sometimes there is no power when the accelerator is stepped on the car . If the car is turned of for a couple seconds then turned on again, everything is fine for about 3 min of
driving
before the above occurs again. I have not taken it to the dealer as of yet, but will. In the meantime..... any idea's on what the problem may be?

P1009 check emissions light, transient vsa light

Also engine surged at idle. Stopped, restarted, vsa did not illuminate, check emissions llight was steady ON. I drove home, parked overnight.
Took my 2006 tsx, manual trans, 69.5k miles, in to dealer today; they determined P1009 was the error code.
Root cause was low oil level. Lo Oil Press indicator never came on. Hope this helps someone else!

OK, guojunmai, you have a transmission issue.

P0780 - Shift Control System

P1734 - Shift control system; Shift solenoid valves B or C stuck OFF or Shift valves B or C stuck

With transmission issue, the first check is fluid level. If your transmission fluid is too low, the valves malfunction and the transmissions can start throwing codes. Top it up, if it's low. Also, what color is the fluid and how does it smell?

If that doesn't fix it, it's dealership, independent specialist or transmission shop.

Madam Meow, P1009 is VTC Advance Malfunction, as you now know, famously caused by low oil levels. Don't rely on oil pressure light, that warns far too late. Check oil level about once a month (more if you burn oil), about the same time you check tire pressure (remember the spare too).
