well i think the parts are more available now...i took my TSX in monday, they ran diagnostics and told me they orderd a new radio to be shipped overnite. unfortunately, there were some shipment delays due to weather so it didnt arrive till wednesday morning. then after trying to install for a day they realized they ordered/received a wrong part so they had to reorder again to be shipped overnite. they received it on thursday but took them another day to properly install...eventually leading me to pick up my ride friday at noon. i didnt mind at all since i had a loaner car for the whole time (rsx for 3 days/tl for 2 days)

I had the problem with the back lights around the HVAC and the stereo not going on when the headlights were on. Took it to the dealer three times, and they finally solved it last week. I had given them the name of another dealer that had solved the same problem, but they were uninterested.
However, what I find strange is how they fixed the problem. What my dealer did was replace the Radio Volume Control on the steering wheel, and presto the problem is fixed. All the lights come on. I fail to see the connection. But it is fixed. There were no service people when I picked up the car so I did not get the underlying explanation. I will be following up ith the dealer shortly to see why that solved the problem and post the reply. The sense a get from those on the forum with the same problem, is that the radio needs to be replaced. As to loaners, they gave me a brand new silver TSX - a bit of a problem because my wife wanted the silver one and this just brought back the discussion. |
well, i got my tsx back and its all fixed. whole new center console. here's the part number they replaced: 39050-SEC-A01RM. they think something shorted back inside the console but replaced the entire unit to be safe.
also had one of my fog lights replaced (b/c it was full of water). they took one of my hoen xenomatch bulbs though :( oh well, at least it was fixed under warranty. anyway, hopefully not too many others run into this issue. maybe the part # above will help. after waiting the couple weeks for the parts to get here, they had the whole job done in 1 morning. |
Well my console lights are out now too. What a pain in the ass.

i am so pissed right now.

I'd like to dedicate this thread to DOMN... who says that he has never heard of such a ludicrous proposition.
BTW it's going to take about a month to fix my BLACKED-OUT radio. TSUX.:bandito: |
Crazytree, don't be a dick. I don't read every thread that comes through this site. (Although it may not seem that way)
|
Crazytree.....
Why the hell would it take a month to get your console lights fixed???? They did mine in two days...... ?????? |
to update ya'll about my situation. all that really happened was that the interior light fuse in my car blew. no biggie just popped in a new fuse and console lit back up.
|
glad it was only the fuse jiggaman
i think the console fuse is slot #6 in the fusebox so if you get this problem i would suggest checking out fuse #6 first |

My lights went out about a month ago... I live in Portland, OR. My vin is 10149. My dealership took the stereo out of a new TSX on the lot... that's why only two days.

NO, why am I on this Thread
my center console button lights and the button lights around HVAC just when out. This is going to be fun, since my dealer here in mississauga is a real pain
Checked fuse #6 and its fine, I already know this because I replaced it before when changing the dome lights to blue and I shoot a fuse then, where my entire console including radio and HVAC went out completely, no lights/functionality, when I replaced fuse #6 it was all great again. Now 2 weeks later only my console/HVAC lights are out but with functionality. fuse #6 is fine. don't know what led up to this but I think it happened while I was adjusting the dash lights/starting the car. I think it was a stupid idea messing with the tsx interior lights, this car is design well and is meant to function a certain way. Could have nothing to do with it but you never know. Keep you guys posted on the progress of my pain, specially when I spend so much time in my car at night this one is going to kill me for sure.:( :( |
National Back Order
Well, I went to my Acura dealer in the morning, they know about the problem and told me that it would take minimum 2, possibly 4 weeks to get the part in, its on national back order.
I even went to another dealer here in Markham where I work, at first they told me that they would first have to check some connections in the back of the stereo before they could order a replacement stereo, yea like I would let them toy around in there for no reason. So, once I let them know that I know about this little bitchy problem they changed angle right away and told me the same thing as my actual dealer, the part is on national back order. :'( |
that sucks cap...i havent changed any lights and the center console went out so i dont think it was related to ur lights?
2-4 week wait sucks as well, i dont know how i was able to get mine done in a week. |
I've been waiting 2 weeks for my part... and there's at least 5-6 other TSXs on my dealer's waitlist in front of me. I'm thinking it's going to take another month to get my part.:bandito:

I've read this thread and I have to ask: any nav-equipped cars affected? Another reason to buy the nav...

Originally posted by dabuda2004 he said another TSX w/NAV came in last week with the same prob and that part was $4300 instead of $2600. |
dabuda2004:
Yeah but there a lot more TSXs WITHOUT nav than with it right? So while the TSX's without NAV having this problem may outnumber the TSXs with NAV, the frequency in which the console problem appears in both types of TSXs may be the same. |
Good point Carlos, so at what point do ya think there should be a recall?????:dunno:
|
a voluntary recall will virtually NEVER take place unless it is a safety issue.:bandito:

Hate to be on this list, but mine went out as well. One question, if the repair job took more than one day, did you guys request a loaner?
|
the repair will be done in less than a day... it's waiting for the parts that's a bitch.:bandito:
|
What is the actual part that is blown?
|
transistor for the radio dimmer.:bandito:
|
I can't believe you have to wait for a transistor! It's got to be an off the shelf component but they probably don't want to desolder it and resolder it so they just order a new module. I don't think Acura has transistors custom made for them.

Center console light out
:(
I purchased my 04 TSX in October and it was manufactured in Japan and we had to wait 4 weeks to receive it in CA. My first real problem is that the center console lights went out last week. The radio, Ac still works, but the clock, AC and radio lights are all out. I have noticed that the volume on the radio seems to need to be turned up higher. I took it to the dealer last weekend, but they said it was not a fuse and would need more time to look at it (it was late on a Saturday when I went by). Sounds like quite a few of you have experienced this problem. I am always nervous about leaving my car at the dealer. They are going to have a TSX ready for me as a loaner on Thursday 3/25. He had not heard of the problem, but I am not sure how many TSX's they really got in. There is only one on the lot and it's a demo. Could I get a few responses with the dealer (name)that fixed it as well as the service department number, so I can do my own research before bringing the car in for trial and error? I want to bring my own research with me to show them what I have found. Is there a technical service bullentin out on this problem? I would appreciate responses before my thursday appointment. Only other problems that I have encountered is: front seats moves forward on hard break wind sound coming from front doors Otherwise, I love my TSX and always highly recommend it. Thanks for the help! |
If your clock lights are out, it may be that you are experiencing a problem different than most of us here. Our problem is (or has been) that the lights illuminating the buttons for the HVAC and the Audio do not illuminate when the headlights are turned on.
If the HVAC and Audio screen lights are out, it might be that presing the CD button for about five seconds will fix the problem. This has been referred to either earlier on this thread or in some other thread linked to from here. As to the problem I had where the lights illuminating the centre console buttons were out, I was told that the fix was to replace the Audio volume control switch on the steering wheel. I don't see the connection, but this is what the service advisor (not the technician / mechanic) told me. And it seems to have worked. One other thing - it was mentioned earlier in this thread that the problem may be related to a certain date range of cars produced. I also took delivery in October of a car that I think was manufactured in August. One difference is that I have the Canadian version. |
My center console lights went out last night. Thought at first it was probably a fuse, but after reading this thread last night, I realized that it probably wasn't. Went to dealer this morning. First time I've taken it to the dealership (do my own maintenance work). Just turned over 10,000 miles this week.
Experience at dealership was mildly unpleasant. First, the service guy says that they are all booked up and can't even look at it today. It would be late next week before they can even look at it. I told him that I had read that this was a common problem and a new stereo would probably have to be ordered. He audibly scoffed and said "Sir, we'll have to look at it before we can order a new stereo for you". He went back and talked to the service manager and the next thing I know, they agree to "work you in today". About an hour later, the guy says "Well, you were right, they do need to replace the stereo and we do have to order it". He told me to "call sometime next week" to see if they have it in. I asked if they would call me when it arrived and he said no. I must say that I've owned a Lexus and a Lincoln in the past, and got better service from those brands dealerships. The Lexus service was incredible and the Lincoln dealer would at least call you or send you a postcard when the part was in. Given the number of notes on this subject here and the fact that part is backordered, this is probably a common problem with the TSX. Don't know how long I'm going to have to go without visible heat and air controls, a clock, or a stereo display, but at least I got them to look at my car and get the part ordered. |
same thing happened to me..jsut a couple of day ago!>...jsut all da sudden...went to the dealer right away..n they said someone the da west van had the same thing happen to them>!>..n it's gonna take a month for them to order tht shit!>.fuckk!..they should give us free shit for that!... like a kit or sumshit!.hahah!
|
Mine has been on back order for a month and they were telling me they had no idea when it would be coming in. I threatened to arbitrate... and they told me that the factory moved me to the top of a 37-TSX waiting list. I was told the part would arrive in 24 hours... more than a week ago.
If this is not solved by next week by Acura Corporate... who I contacted... I have no choice but to commence arbitration proceedings. Hopefully I will get credited 2-3 months of payments.:bandito: |
Center console lights out, cont.
This is a f/up to my previous message regarding center console lights out. Thanks to everyone that responded to my posting.
I took my TSX to the dealer Thursday and took with me all the information that you all have posted and highlighted everything pertinent. They kind of rolled their eyes, but the service manager was nice enough to seem interested and took it from me. I called ACURA customer service the day before to get more information about TSB's and reports of this problem. They took my VIN # and looked it up, but said not only is there no reports of bullentins or problems under mine, the TSX in general had no service bulletins. I also called 4 other dealers that are close to me, other than my own dealer. No one heard of this problem (so they said). My car was at the dealer 1/2 day while I drove an old Integra. The service adviser called me in the afternoon and said that they have to replace the center console, just like the messages I gave him reported. AND he said that there IS A TSB on this problem. I am fustrated that Acura is denying the existenance of this problem as well as the dealerships, until they all get together and then offer up the answer. I was also told that my part is on National Back order and he would have to check back this Monday to see the status, etc. Does anyone else want to work together to try and get some answers out of ACURA about why we are told that this problem does not exist and the dealerships are not informed of this problem in the TSX? I plan on calling the 800 # again and reporting this and also the client satisfaction people that keep calling me. I would like explanations, and not even sure how long it will take for the replacements...sounds like someone knows that this is a big problem. What if this goes out AGAIN after warranty is up? It's not a cheap problem. Looking forward to your feeback. |
Well I have about 10650 miles on mine and so far so good. I'm hoping this doesn't happen to me. I can hear your guy's frustration. If my dealer said that I would have to call them to see when my part was in, oh man, I would've been enraged. I would've said No!, you can call me, it's an inconveinence to me in the first place. I would expect a little more service out of Acura and it seems like they would've been investigating the problem since is has happened to so many TSX's. The national back order should've been a hint right there. Well good luck to the people that are still waiting on there parts. I hope Acura starts to look at the issue soon, If it's a defect in the way it was manufactured then it may happen to all TSX's, just a matter of time.

Count me in as well. 13000 miles and my lights around the sterio/HVAC displays are out. Calling the dealer sometime this week.
