car doesnt know that drivers side door is open

hello,
i have a 2004 cl7 accord, i recently purchased a set of illuminated door sills for a 2009 accord thats supposed to plug directly into the fuse box.
Since the fuse boxes are different i decided to conntect the sills to the door light. After testing to find out which wire was for the door light, the door light no longer comes on when the door is open, neither does the dome light or the light on the dash that indicated when the door is open.

could anyone give me any suggestion to fix the probelm

* it was actually a friend doing the installation of the sills and he is an auto electrician.

sounds like a blown fuse. Check the fuses in the fusebox, specifically the one for interior lights.

I would start with the switch on the door sill that tells the car when the door is open. Now, I'm not real sure with it is on the CL7, but that's where I'd start. Seems like the only thing that would cause all the lights and the dash indicator to not work. Can you lock the door by using the thingee by the window (not the power lock switch on the armrest, I'm drawing a blank on what you call that) with it open? I know that on my TSX, if I try to do that with the door open, it just pops right back up. You have to pull out on the inside door handle to get it to actually lock.

wait so the push button sensor is fine? I think that was what litesout was referring to. Unless there's a severed a wire from the install. There shouldn't be anything wrong with the multiplexer, if that went out, nothing else connected to it would work.

what is "the push button sensor" ??

what lightsout was speaking of is the door know i assume...when u open the door with the car on..if u press it, its jumps back up as a safety feature so u cant lock the key in the ignition....that doesnt work for me...if the car is on and i open the door and push down the knob, it stays down

The push button sensor is the little button on the doorjamb that gets pushed in when the door gets closed. I meant to take a picture of it to post up here, but it slipped my mind. If I can get out a little bit later I will and post it up.

That said, it could be a multiplexer issue as well. I'd try to door jamb sensor first.

well i got it fixed, my auto electrician did some stuff and got it working. I think the basic idea of the fix was that it was the multiplex unit or somewhere else in the fuse box that was causing the problem, so he bypassed that for the door and connected the switch directly to whatever was connected through the fuse box
