Car Broken into (Window)

Well last night, after having a few drinks, I left my car behind and caught a cab home. I came back to find my car as well as the one next time mine with busted out windows. Nothing was taken out of my car though, which is strange. I had a laptop in there that I use for work, but it was left alone as well as a crappy iPod and blackberry??

Anyhow, anyone know how much this small window costs?

Even though it cost you a cab ride, and now a window, you did the right thing. Better to be out a hundred bucks or so than risk a DUI, which could end up costing you $10k in legal fees, increased insurance, etc.

What an odd window to punch out. You can't really get your arm in and open the door without setting off the alarm.

Completely agree, but are you not going through insurance? I've had my car broken into. Window was smashed and they stole my GPS. Called my insurance, claimed what was stolen and they didn't increase my insurance or charge me for deductible.

May fall under Comprehensive, but I have read Agents title the claim as Vandalism, so the client payed zero out of pocket.

Different damage, but when my car was keyed insurance told me I had to pay my comprehensive deductible.

Verify by reading your insurance documentaion (or asking on an insurance forum) before going through your insurance. While you insurance won't go up on the first claim, if you have another one in under 3 years look out. If you are uncertain, pay it and don't even involve the insurance company.
