I have an 04 TSX & last September my A/C stopped working. The normal off brand Acura/Honda shop I normally take it to said that I need an A/C clutch & clutch coil. He didn't think the compressor was bad. Parts + labor = $635.
I've also asked a mechanic who lives in my neighborhood & fixes cars. He says that I should just get a new compressor because that encompasses the clutch & coil and the repair will last longer than if I just bought those 2 parts. Is this true?
What are your thoughts? I just don't want to be taken advantage of because I'm a young woman!

It is cheaper than $4000 so I guess you are getting a deal!
In all seriousness it is a known problem. Search and you will find out that it is in par with what it should cost. Some people will say go to an Acura shop and see if they will give you a price break. But ~$600 is good for the work and parts involved.

Almost Doctor
I agree, you should replace the entire assembly. The total parts cost will be more (~$400) but I would expect the service time to actually be less for the entire assembly rather than just the clutch & coil. Replacing the entire compressor assembly will give you that extra piece of mind (read about all the other A/C failures).
