Buzzing Sound When Turn Key

Buzzing Sound When Turn Key

I have an '06 TSX and I have noticed a buzzing sound sometimes when I turn the key and sometimes when I turn it off. Is this telling me there is a starter issue? Any suggestions?

I think it is the same thing I occasionally experience -- if so, it snot the starter, it might be the ignition switch or possibly the chip/transponder being a bit slow to sync up between key and ignition. I never experience it if I wait 0.5-1 second after inserting the key, before turning it.

Thanks Curls. If I turn the key to the on position and wait a second, it doesn't make the sound, so it is probably the same thing you are experiencing. Thanks for the tip.

This happened to me also.

My mechanic disconnected the battery ground wire where it is connected to the body of the car. He scraped both the wire connection and the part of the car where the wire is connected.

Problem gone.

I have experienced this buzzing sound and has also noticed that if I push the key in and wait a second or two, it doesn't do it at all. I was also leaning towards the starter, as my battery is less than a year old and the alternator and the battery both tested ok.

Its the main relay buzzing. It does this if you dont turn the key quickly enough. Very common on 7th gen accords and the TSX. Honda says this is normal and is not an starter/ignition switch issue. Its happend a few times to me, and we've had customers come in complaining about this as well. Honda sent out a TSB/Shop Talk bulletin about the issue. You guys are good!
