Exclamation Broken Endlink Mount 04 TSX

Has anyone ever broken a rear sway bar endlink mount on an 04 TSX? I recently had to have one of my rear sway bar brackets fixed due to it splitting in half. This appears to be a common issue when thicker bars are installed.

Yesterday while getting my tires rotated the tech noticed that now one of the support brackets (passenger side) which the rear sway bar endlinks bolts to was split to the point that the endlink was just hanging from my sway bar.

Are there any replacements that are thicker for this mount out there?

Side Note: I have the thicker Comptech rear sway bar with poly bushings.

I was installing new rear brake pads and rotors today, and WOW -- same thing!

I'm more than a little embarassed that I didn't notice the difference. I have no idea how long it's been that way. However, it does explain why my swaybar (also a Comptech) hasn't been squeaking even though it hasn't been re-greased for a while.

Did you find anything beefier or did you replace it with a stock part?

Mine didn't break but the bolts were seized when I did a suspension replacement on my 04 at about 115k miles and I had to saw off the endlink. I bought Moog replacement units at Advance Auto and am very satisfied with them. Be careful when you order the replacement as the two sides are not identical, they are mirror images of each other so make sure you get the correct one.

We haven't seen this issue raised for quite some time, but there have been more than a few reports of the Comptech bar (only) being responsible for cracked mounts. I remember them being bushing mounts, but evidently the end links are vulnerable too. That said, the OE end links are poor performers. I'm guessing that they may be frozen on the older cars and are transferring stress to the mount. The stiffer sway bar may magnify this. The Moog replacements are beefier and are much improved in their method of installation (no more allen key!). I would suggest that anyone who replaces their sway bar also change out the end links. The Moog ones are pretty cheap and a real improvement.

The end links themselves are listed as "Discontinued" on the Acura eStore site, so Moogs it will be. Luckily, the brackets are only $10

It's interesting that the end links for the 04 and 05 models are not listed on the Delray Acura parts site (and I'll bet others), though they are available for the 07. I can't imagine there's any difference (I'm not suggesting using them by the way).
