Break from Break-In

According to what the sale person who sold me my TSX, he said the engine has already run in but for the safe side, they normally will recommand the client wait until after 3k. But he said in a worst case if you really need to get on the freeway, be sure not to trval faster than 120 km/hr and that shall not cause any damages to your vehicke ....... However, be sure not to slam on your brake to hard as that will cause the rotors to be blended as the brakes needs to take sometime to run-in. So, keep a safe distance to those in front of you!! Enjoy your trip!!!

Thanks for the promp replies but I think I was misunderstood. I'll be leaving for 6 weeks and my TSX will be sitting for six weeks. Will it be bad for a new TSX to jus sit around for 6 weeks? Thanks!

Fixed

I understood what you meant. It is not bad and will not affect your break-in. I don't think 6 weeks is long enough that you need to prep it for long storage. Maybe ask a friend to start the car and run the engine for 5 min. every 2 or 3 weeks.

I thought that was worse for your car because of the battery drain and the collection of unburned fuel sitting in the oil. My bro-in-law did that 5 minute thing for me on my old car, while I was on an extended trip and he killed my battery.

Shouldn't be bad for the battery at all. Worse comes to worse, you ask the person to go and drive the car for a short couple of miles.

Over 6 weeks that would mean it would be done once, maybe twice. I don't think it will kill the battery. IMO its good to circulate the fluids once in a while and not let them sit there. Now that I think about it, taking it around the block wouldn't be a bad idea, just so the gas in the tank gets jostled a bit. I'm no expert though, its just my opinion.

Sounds good. How about a fuel stabilizer?

I was away for a month one time and let my old car (not a TSX) sit the whole time, in the dead of winter, and it started right up when I got home. It was not started or driven by anyone while I was away. I think it'll be fine, even if it is new.

6 weeks shouldn't be a problem. my show bitch CRX sat dormant with fuel stabilizer for a good 6 months without stabilizer and fired right up after that winter.

oops...... sorry... I was reading it at work and I missed the key point completely.. my bad my bad.... lol

Don't worry man... your car is so new..... unless the battery is aging. If you really worry about the battery will die, may be cut the battery until your return.
