Question Brake pedal sound

The brake pedal on my new TSX makes a "whooshing" sound, like air escaping, when pressed. It's actually quite loud. Is this pretty typical of the TSX?

I have it. I plan to let the dealer check it out at the first oil change. It doesn't come from the brake itself and doesn't sound that ominous.

If you go to the dealer for this, can you post the result? Thanks.

It's very helpful to find out if other people have the same brake pedal behavior, because it's far too common for dealers to say a perceived problem is "normal".

I hear the same sound in my TSX. I'm used to it and I doubt it's a safety issue so I don't intend to bring it in to fix (if that's even possible).

I have the same noise. I've asked around and heard that it's part of the cars "breaking in period" but I'm not sure. Nor did that answer come from a dealer.

its normal my Pilot does it also. it is a damper that prevents you from slamming on the brakes suddenly. it works like a shock absorber only it uses air. it helps to prevent a total wheel lockup condition so the ABS have a chance to work.
for thoes of you who live in an area where it snows. you will find that if you hammer the brakes at moderate speeds with any car equipped with ABS you can stop all 4 wheels so fast that the car thinks its already stopped. therefore the ABS can't activate. ABS needs to see at least 1 wheel still turning when applying the brakes otherwise the system makes the assumption that the car has in fact stopped when it reality it is sliding.

I have the same noise too. Don't think its any kind of safety issue, just a little annoying. If anyone has had this fixed by their dealer, please let us all know.

That sound is coming from the pedal, not the brakes. It sounds like compressing some air pump. It's not at all omnious, though.

turn up the radio and forget about it, its not a problem or flaw with the car, just the way it is.
no point in taking it into the dealer to complain about it they are just going to tell you it's normal.
