Bluetooth auto transfers call advising "to conserve battery power"

I was on a bluetooth call. I parked my car and like many times before, I shut off the engine and took out the key. Normally, the call continues until I exit the TSX and press transfer on my Treo700P.

Well this time, as soon as the engine shut off and the key was removed the prompt came on and said something like "to conserve battery strength, your call is automatically being transferred to the phone". I started the car back up and transferred back to HFL but was unable to duplicate. The HandsFreeLink call is supposed to be able to last up to 30 minutes while the engine is shut off.

Wierd! It can't be the phone because it had full battery. And my car is running fine with no apparent dimming or electrical sluggishness. So why now? Why this message? Any ideas?
