Auto-dimming rear view mirror inconsistent?
Auto-dimming rear view mirror inconsistent?
The auto-dimming rear view mirror in my TSX is driving me crazy.
Sometimes it works great and dims perfectly (e.g. on busy interstate at night, without anyone really close behind me).
Sometimes it doesn't - I can have an SUV right on my a$$ on a surface street with lights blazing in, and it won't dim.
Are there any adjustments to make it more sensitive?

Feel free to join me in the "I hate this mirror!!!" club. I've had a number of these (auto-dim) mirrors from different manufacturers and have had no use for any of them. Among their other faults, they're no good at dawn/dusk, no help when you have some yahoo behind you with every light on the front blazing (like the stupe ute you mention in your thread) during the day (an all to common occurrence), and basically just suck at all other times you're wishing for a dimmed mirror. All that said, (now I'll tell you how I really feel.......no really) I believe the mirror has no adjustment.
I don't believe there is any adjustment. I believe the mirror dims based on the difference in light intensity between the front and rear sensor. Perhaps the front sensor happened to be under a streetlight?
The worst is when you're driving with the sun shining in the back window.
I'm going to replace mine with a manual day/night mirror from an RSX or
whatever fits the mount. And my Silverado truck's is just as bad.
