Anyone else had a broken gas pedal?

Alright, somehow the "hinge" for the gas pedal on the floor of the footwell broke off, completely off. Apparently it is just a piece of plastic that flexes back and forth, after 108,000 miles it broke off.

The result of it was: no full throttle, and no real lateral control on the pedal itself. Hard to drive... The dealer charged me 250 dollars for a completely new pedal, which they had to ship in from California because "there was only one left in the country, and I would have to wait weeks if I didn't get that one". I had it replaced the same time I did some recall work. On the up side, I did get to have a 2010 RDX loaner for a couple of days, pretty good car, but it definitely needs the Hondata tune...

Anyone else have this gas pedal problem?

I know right? Apparently this doesn't happen to most cars - that was the reason given for the lack of replacement pedals. For all I know, they could have been telling the truth. No one else on this forum has reported to have the same problem, so maybe this isn't a normal service part. I'm sure by design, it is supposed to last the life of the car.
