Alignment (steering wheel)

Alignment (steering wheel)

A few days ago I signed a lease on an ’05 TSX – Black with Parchment with window tint - (sold my ’03 VW Passat). This car is fantastic! I couldn’t be happier. The car is a joy to drive. (prior to the Passat I drove a ’97 740iL).

Quick question – I noticed that the steering wheel is slightly (very slightly) off center when driving straight. Has anyone else had this issue? Should I get it fixed?

do a search... this is a very common problem. Look in problems and fixes, it has been adressed multiple times before.

Robert,

Does the car pull when you let the wheel go? It might be the allignment. Also, the TSX seems to be sensitive to the slope of the highway. On crowned roads you may get a drift to the left when in the left lane and a drift to the right when in the right lane. As TSX.Fury said, there are a lot of threads on this topic already. Try searching on "allignment" and "steering"

Can't be as bad as the Honda Accord I'll be leaving behind. If I let go of the steering wheel, I'll be off the road in a matter of seconds, in the direction of the slope. That car actually PULLS on the steering wheel.

Mine Does!

I just got mine and it's pointing to the right, but doesn't pull; just goes straight.

If it bothers you then take it back to the dealer, they should take care of it.

mine goes very very slightly to the left. but car goes straight and feels good. 22600 miles now, i didnt care too much.

Yes. I brought it in three times. They first fixed the issue and said my allignment rationw as off. So there was atleast a probelm they found from the get-go. But as I brought it in again, they test drove it and said that it was fine. Hard to believe because my arms get tired of holding it straight most of the time :/. they deny deny deny

FWIW, when I had the post A-Spec suspension alignment done, the slight off center steering wheel issue was corrected, so it's fixable.

Yes- its fixable. Mine was oriented a ways to to the right but the alignment was ok.

They dealer adjusted it to center. Hasnt come back since.

Mine was fixed first time too, and it wasn't off very much at all. I could never seem to get anyone to fix this same issue on my last car. It drove me nuts, and it was one of the things I was most looking forward to with my new car. As you might guess, I was pretty disappointed when my new TSX was delivered with the same fault (though more minor). Ironically, the loaner they gave me was even worse. The good news is it was straight as an arrow when I got it back.
