airbag indicator light intermittently turns on
04816-SEC-A12ZD. I'm not sure the difference of B/D in the model. Mine is Quartz so perhaps that's why.

SRS repair at dealer covered under warranty
My 2004 TL (115K miles) had the intermittent SRS alarm. Took to Pohanks Acura and they repaired for free.
Diagnostic Code - 1511 WAR2
Replaced Part 04816-SEP-A00ZC (seat belt buckle)
I should also throw props to Pohanka. They really seem to be trying harder these days. Very good experience.

I used my air compressor and blew air into the driver side airbag assembly and it's been a solid 2 years that the light hasn't come back on. I think that over time, crumbs and dirt fall in there and probably break contact for the sensor when the car does it's diagnostic.
Something that frequently will work for a balky microswitch is to dose heavily w/ WD40 and exercise repeatedly. I've fixed a number of sticky switches w/ this simple procedure. Benefit is the seat belt will latch/unlatch easier also.

Just saw this post.
Thanks to this thread I was able to narrow down my airbag light to be related to the seatbelt buckle. Easy way to tell is if you unlatch your seat belt with the car running, the seatbelt light doesn't turn on.
I just held the big red unlatch button and repeatedly exercised the mechanism until the seatbelt light turned on and off consistently while I excercised it. Didn't even use WD40 and it worked like a charm. Probably just dirty contact which the WD40 would do a good job of cleaning.
Saved a trip and calls to the dealer (and your car from being touched by the dealer).
Same problem 2004 TSX. Bad seat belt switch. Seat belt is under warranty Dealer repaired it for free. They of course tried to get me for "black" brake fluid not knowing that I check hood at least once a month and had checked the weekend before and the fluid was replaced 5K miles ago.
Not something I will expect out of a Acura dealership.

...go there more frequently...you'll learn to expect ANYTHING. Only fighting chance you have is if they get to know your face and then realize that you know wtf you're talking about. I would have been like, cool...let's take a look at the fluid then.
FKN liar. Then I'd let them know that I planned to share the experience with Honda when they called to do the survey.

Like many others in this thread, I had the intermittent airbag warning light on my '04 TSX last year. The dealer replaced the driver's side seat belt buckle for free as it was covered under the lifetime warranty on the seatbelt system.
Now, the airbag light is constantly on, and the same dealer says I have to replace the airbag control module at the cost of $950, so needless to say I'm not very happy. As the airbags won't deploy with the warning light on, I guess I'm leaning towards fixing it. (I'm the original owner of the TSX with no accidents and 187K miles).
Any ideas on other causes or fixes...??

I called acura the next morning and the first person I spoke to gave me the same made up warranty restrictions and said that it wasn't covered. I asked the woman to please provide me the part number that wasn't covered then and at that point she gave me a case # and said the regional rep Anthony was going to call me back by Monday at 5:00.
Anthony did call on Monday 3/11/2013 and I again had the most amazingly infuriating conversation I've ever had with him. He very self assuredly explained that the dealership was right and the part was only covered for "mechanical issues" which he likened to difficulty fastening. I explained to him that he was making up restrictions on the warranty and that I was already tired of dealing with it. I explained at length the clear language of the warranty and asked him again to provide me with the part # that was not covered under warranty. He was silent for a long 10 seconds and then said that he would try and contact the dealership and see if there were other ways to handle this under good will. I forcefully told him NO that this was clearly covered under warranty, that he nor I nor anyone had any authority to alter the terms of the warranty and that the issue was a lot bigger because now it's not about the $200 it's about Acura mistreating people and failing to honor their warranty with made up reasons as a policy. I told him that this is a deceptive trade practice issue and that if they were going to try and cheat people then this was an issue for the attorney general more so. I told him that I was done dealing with this ridiculous situation with people making things up and if they didn't want to honor the warranty that surely the district court judge will for them. They can tell the judge about the made up special warranty provisions and see if he takes it any better than I did. He was quiet for 10 seconds again and then said that he would "contact the dealer to see what happened there". It isn't as if any of that changes anything with the warranty. He said he would call back by Friday at 5:00pm. I felt myself wishing I never got the call from Anthony because it was the same aggravation all over again.
Lets get real here though about what's really going on. This is an issue that appears to happen at some point to just about every vehicle they made eventually. They realized they were on the hook for a new seatbelt every once in a while for every car they sold for the last 10 years and decided they weren't going to be able to stomach that bill. Their solution was to come up with some ridiculous scheme to reclassify parts inside of the seatbelt as somehow not part of the seatbelt to dishonestly defraud their customers as a policy. I get it, 20 million cars x $200 is a lot of money but that's not my fault or problem. I didn't design the part and I didn't write the warranty. When I bought an Acura this is exactly what I wasn't supposed to be dealing with.
I will update later this week with what happens when "Anthony" calls back.
I had the same thing happen to my 06 TSX a few weeks ago. I narrowed it down to the driver's side seat belt, and cleaned the seat belt mechanism and it helped a lot, but the light still came on every few days. So, I took it to the dealer today, and the diagnostics confirmed it was the DS seat belt. I was expecting to have them give me a hard time on the warranty, (as detailed above by mrobertb), but they said it was covered under the lifetime warranty. They ordered the part and even game me a loaner until it's ready tomorrow. --Pleasantly surprised.
Note: They gave me an ILX with the tech pkg. Definitely will not be buying one of these. It's nicely finished inside, but it seems cramped in back & in the trunk, and the engine is underpowered. I'd consider the 6 speed with the K24 engine...but the electric steering is numb. It's not a bad looking car, though.

Just purchased my 2004 tsx last Monday with 44k miles. I also had the airbag light come on. Made at appointment at Sierra Acura in Alhambra. Was quoted the initial 130 for inspection and if it was a defect, the fee would be waived. Ended up being the driver side buckle and was replaced free of charge with no questions asked although they did try to upsell me on other services.
Also addressed am issue with the rear view mirror being loose since I was lazy to tighten the torx bit. They wanted 65 dollars to tighten the screw...talk about getting screwed lol. Other than that, I didn't pay a dime, plus I got a complimentary vacuum and car wash

On Monday, my number 2 spark plug blew out of the head, it’sfixed now with a heli-coil, but when the plug blew, my air bag light came on. Now it comes on intermittently. Any thoughts on the cause?
BTW – my local Acura dealer replaced the plugs75K miles ago, the number 1 plug was also loose. I’m sure they didn’t torque the plug properly, but try to prove that 75K miles ago.
I too will try the suggestions in this thread and if that fails, proceed to Acura. I just need to find a different dealership than the one closest to me because I've had negative experiences with them over the years.
Can I do this too?
My airbag light was coming on too, (and seemingly dimming the lights on the dash at the same time). I took it into the dealer, and after lots of diagnosis, they replaced the driver's side airbag and the electrical cable reel in the steering wheel, saying the codes indicated a short circuit.
A week later, I was back again with the same problem. This time they replaced the alternator. (All under warranty, since my car is a CPO.)
A week later, it still had the problem. I was at wits end.
I did some searching here, and found some threads describing the cause of that problem as a bad battery ground cable. It made no sense that it would be that simple, but I went to Checker Auto parts and bought a new ground cable for $5 & installed it.
-- That was it! The problem is gone.
I'd say try that with yours. For $5, it's cheap fix worth trying.

Had the same issue with my 2005 TSX, took it too dealership. They replaced the seatbelt buckle at no charge. Didn't fix problem. They dealership said it was the air bag and that it would cost over $800 in parts and labor, went ahead and ordered the part. After replacing airbag the dealership said it was the reel assy. and that it would be another $900 in parts and labor. After complaining too the service manager about there poor troubleshooting, they decided not too charge me for the reel assy. Then when I went too pick up my TSX, some service technician backed into the side causing over $2045 worth of damage, now I'm fighting with dealership with over the repairs. Dont use Mac Churchill Acura in Fort Worth Texas.
Similar issue with my 2004. Rather than soaking things with wd40, I sprayed lots of contact cleaner into the drivers seatbelt connector two months back, exercising the connection. Did the same with the passengers seatbelt for good measure. Airbag warning light has not come on since. Previously it was on most of the time for the past year.
SRS / Airbag light
I'm a newbie here but not new to Acuras - had 3 G2 Legends, now have 2 G1 TSX's, etc. Active on other forums, as well. Familiar with pulling the honda/acura codes, using the FSM, and doing most of my own work. Have the common intermittent SRS / Airbag light on in my stock, unmodified, 04 SSM 6mt TSX with 57K miles. Red SRS light comes on intermittently. Seat belt light also does not work normally. Sometimes the seatbelt light will come on when I unbuckle, sometimes not. The seatbelt light will always go out, if I buckle up, when it is lit.
Did lots of google and forum searches, and found 2 specific problem areas - negative battery cable is sometimes suspect. Removed the negative cable, cleaned it, and made sure both ends made good clean contact. Also, cleaned positive cable terminal, along with the battery terminals. This had no impact on my intermittent SRS light problem.
Pulled the code next by jumping pins 4 + 9 in the OBD2 connector. Get DTC 61, which is the driver's seatbelt buckle switch. From my view, the problem has been identified.
Called my local Acura dealer. They have done some work for me before, but I tend to do most of my own work. I explained what I found and asked if they will make that repair under the seat belt warranty, as is done by many dealers. Was advised that their Acura factory rep has told them that repair is not covered. I'll try another Acura dealer nesxt, to see if their policy is the same.
I'd rather find out via a phone call if it is covered, as I'm going to use up 3 hours of time making 2 trips to a dealer to get it done, if covered by warranty. If it is not covered, I'd rather spend the $100 on the part online and do it myself in a fraction of the time.
Has anyone had this done recently that was covered by the seat belt warranty? What words did you use to get it covered under warranty?
Would anyone have the part number handy for the drivers's buckle, for a type A (black) interior code?
Thanks in advance for any advice !! Ken

Part number, I believe, is 04816-SEC-A12ZB (black); $89/$67.
The Acura dealer that I have done occasional business with, on (3) G2 Legends and (1) G1 TSX, said the seat belt buckle repair would not be covered by the seat belt warranty.
The next Acura dealer I contacted, that I have never done business with before, said it indeed was covered by warranty. They would even order the part ahead of time so only 1 trip to the dealership would be required for the fix. Repair is scheduled for Wed, 8/6.
Anyone want to guess who gets my future business?

Acura dealer in Avon, CT, pulled codes and found 61-10, as expected. Driver's seat belt buckle replaced under seat belt warranty, at no charge.
Although I don't make frequent trips to the dealer, I have been using the same one for the last 8 years, for misc items & some service for 4 different Acuras. Since they refused to make this seat buckle repair under warranty, I'll now use the Avon, CT dealer. The first dealer has lost my continued business over a $70 part that really should have been covered by the seat belt warranty.
