60,000-Mile Report

Beside rattling and a cracked up windshield that has been hit by small and big rocks in the freeway every couple months, I've just found 1 more thing after 60,000 miles of driving --

Half of the plastic clips that are holding the bumper and the plastic shield under the car are gone. So, if you are driving alot like me, make sure you check to see if the plastic shield is still hanging under your car.

plastic shield huh. I'll keep an eye for that. I'm at close to 10K after 4 months. At this rate I'll hit 60 within a year also...blah! Serve me right for having a g/f that lives 45 mins away....

In stead of metal nut and bolt, they use some sort of clips to hold the panel in place.

#20 in the picture. A total of 9 of them. Actually, when I look under the car, they use the clips all over the places.

Something to look forward to in a few years. Well at least the engine and transmission are solid. Right?

I just had to deal with 5 of them when I installed my Icebox. Nifty in that they work well, unsnap quickly, and snap closed quickly as well. But, once the plastic gets a little older and more brittle I can see then snap off pretty easily.

I guess they do that to save cost and time during manufacturing. The clips just clip in when you press them. Instead of the bolts that you have to screw into.
