2006 AT noise and SS problem

today i noticed a hissing sound when hitting/touching the gas in auto mode. take foot off gas, no hissing sound. pop in neutral, no hissing sound when revving gas. when sliding over to manual mode in 5th gear, the car has no power when accelerating. fine from 1st thru 4th, but when in 5th it just sits there. what could be wrong ? 33k, 2 fluid drains/fills at 15k each. appt on monday morning.

While im not so sure about the noise youre having, this car doesnt accelerate that much in 5th gear. 5th gear is a cruising gear for the highway mostly. If youre trying to accelerate in 5th it will happen pretty slowly.

5th certainly is slow going, but it should do something... in my experience if I'm cruising at about 2-2.5k revs and get on the pedal, it will jump 500-1k into the 3+k range and slowly accelerate from there. If I'm in SS mode I almost always downshift to accelerate... it's very weak in 5th gear, especially if it's uphill at all.

The hissing noise sounds odd (no pun intended here). Can you tell where it's coming from approximately?

Are you still covered under warranty? If so, why not have a dealer check it out?

just had oil change, summer tires put on, and state inspection - my local garage seems to think its normal. the hissing seems to come from beneath the shifter, and probably is the drivetrain whirring. have appt at dealer monday morning - i have a feeling all is normal and will not leave it after test drive.
