mate i have a 6 speed manual however i would start with getting the filter and atf flushed properly and changed out of the auto box roughly 8 liters, autos need an atf changed every 30 to 40k to keep them right.

I was doing some research on flushing your transmission fluid and I came across a thread that said that doing that is bad for your transmission. I was going to do it but then I became skeptical about it after reading that. Care to shed some light on the matter?

mate thats rubbish its fluid and needs changing, the work an auto does is immense i change manual gear oil every 25k personally i would be changing atf a lot sooner, if you read the same abouy engine oil would you be inclined to leave it in there for longer. at the end of the day i have never ever heard of anything failing due to changing fluids to soon, i have so many taxi friends who fork out for complete transmissions 8k for lexus gs430,when 100euro on changing the filter and atf would keep the auto in tip top shape. the problem over here is main dealers dont touch auto transmissions its a speicalist job

Thanks bro! I think I'll be doing that soon. I think my tranny is due for some fluid change.

Drain and refill, do not use a machine to flush. Honda strongly recommends NOT flushing the transmission. There should be a DIY on here somewhere for the drain and refill, or take it to the dealer. I think you do it 3 times, driving around a couple miles in between each refill.

It's your car but that sounds really excessive.

A change every 40-50K is still more often than speicifcations call for. Driving style will dictate how often it needs changed. If someone is really hard on their transmission or doesn't shift properly, it would need to be changed (along with other components) more frequently, but an average driver doesn't need to change the fluid as often as 25K or less.
