2004 tsx strange low beam question.

Searched the site and could come up with the right parameters so here it is.
My low beams don't work.
Fuses are fine, and when the lights are selected to "High", the low beams come on with the High beams. Had the recall mod done and the housings are spotless. If the low beams come on when in the "High" position, then ballasts are good?

What controls the lights?

My guess is it has to be either the light switch (on-off) or the high beam switch. The lights themselves evidently work since they do come on, but only in combination with the high beams. I'd say a trip to the dealer would be in order. More 04 gremlins.......

Called dealer and they said they want to replace the bulbs anyway. I do not understand why, except for the money. I could change the bulbs myself, but I do not know how to retrieve my security codes yet.

They may actually be on to something. Because of how the high beams and low beams are wired, there may be power from the high beams "bleeding" back to the low beams so when both are on, it looks like the low beams are on too (think of a dead short). I don't know enough about the HID lights to be confident that this is a possibility, but....

I had a similar problem on my 1988 RX-7 about 10 years ago. The lights wouldn't come on when I set the switch to on, but if I flashed the brights, they would come on (only one bulb in those cars, so it had to be the switch). I ended up replacing the on/off switch on the dash board and it fixed it. Got the part from a junk yard for $25 and replaced it myself.

See how much you can get that part for (if you can even just get the switch part) and look in to swapping that first.

Dealer called. Said it works fine.

So now I have an intermittent fault.
