100k

Hey guys I got a question, I'm just about to reach the 100k milestone on my 04 tsx and just dont wan't to take it to the dealer to get ripped off on "maint" when in reality all they do is "inspect." Well my question is ..."what are some of the things that i have to change at this point? and do i go stock or aftermarket?

Besides the usual oil and filter change, cabin filter change. Between 100-110K miles, there's radiator fluid replacement, Accessory drive belt replacement, spark plug replacements and Valve adjustment - more towards 110K.
Every 3 yrs or 30,000 miles - Brake fluid replacement.

There are a couple of things that should be changed soon, but a 100K mile service (04's and 05's have no maintenance nanny, the basic service interval is every 10K miles, with added items every 20K, a few more every 30K) is pretty much just scheduled maintenance. Spark plugs and valve adjustment are at 110K, AT or MT fluid at 120K, and coolant at 120K or 10 years. I've used the scheduled maintenance intervals as a maximum, replacing some items earlier (except for coolant. I'm of the opinion that time is a better change interval for that than mileage. The coolant in my my wife's 07 with over 100K miles on it still looks like new. I'm in no hurry to change it)(and yes, as opposed to many fluids, if coolant still looks like new, it's a pretty good bet that it's still OK). Aside from the oil and filter (Acura's change intervals are every 10K miles for oil, every 20K miles for a filter change, I change both every 5K-7.5K miles), AT fluid (I've used every 60K miles for that), and filters (I change engine and cabin filters once a year whether they need it or not), if you follow the maintenance chart in the owners manual you should be fine.

There's no recommended change interval for the belt (it's one of the "inspections" specified at the 30K mile interval), but after 6-7 years, it wouldn't hurt to replace it. Though..... I just changed the belt in my 05, and even after 5 1/2 years and 129K miles, it's still in great shape (once it was off, I could get a good look at it). The brake fluid should be changed every 3 years regardless of mileage. It doesn't wear out (one reason why there's no mileage component to the change interval), the concern is moisture contamination which is a function of time.

I have all the service done on my 06 tsx by acura dealers. I know it is probably cheaper doing myself but I have no desire. The last service was at 111,413 miles-they did the power steering recall, changed the wiper blades per the the TSB, oil/filter change, tire rotation/balance, replace engine air and a/c cabin filters, replace engine coolant, replace spark plugs and hand wash the car. I had use of a 10 TL as a loaner car and kept it overnight.

The 2006 TSX has a timing chain. The water pump, however, may need to be replaced.
