HELP! My TSX has 43000 miles and I need a rack and pinion. All shops in my area are asking for 1000.00 for the part and labor. I want to tackle this project myself. I haven't had much luck with the search engines. Any advise, DIY pictures or videos are greatly appreciated. Also, how long would it take?

i think you have to take the cradle out kindof a bitch but saving money is good

 

you have to loosen and tilt the sub frame out just enough to get to rack to slide out through one side.its a bit difficult.

 

This unfortunate episode is a textbook example of why it can pay to cultivate a good relationship with a local dealer. Note I said "can" not "does". With so few miles and most likely only a year or so past the warranty expiration (I won't get into defending the wisdom of an extended warranty), I'd say the OP has a good case for some good will help from Acura on this. But..... he'd need the dealer on his side. Now..... maybe he's tried with neg. results, but I'd guess we'd have heard about that. There may be a lesson here.
