06: odo does not reset when refueling

hey guys!

on the 06, it has a customization option that automatically resets the trip A odometer and average fuel consumption when refueling. This worked for me the very 1st time I filled up, but not the past 3 times since getting the car. Any ideas?? I'm assuming the sensor for refueling is the switch when you open the fuel door..

Here's what I do:
a. pull into gas station
b. turn off engine but leave it in accessory
c. pop the fuel door
d. have them fill up the gas
e. close the gas cap
f. shut the fuel door
g. start engine

I've double checked the setting in the MID options and its set correctly. I even turned the auto reset off and back on again.

only in 06 models, press and hold the I key and you will enter in the MID customization menu.

In '04s with Navi you can reset your average MPG the same way. The trip odometer will not reset though. It is an option on our trip info screen.

I wonder if it is something with the fact you are leaving the key in ACC as the door is opened. I never tried it on mine, I always turn the car completely off.

ok, so it will reset once i start moving? after i fueled, the counters hasn't reset, so i reset it manually first before pulling out of the gas station. will give that a try next fill up and get back.

a_dee that is your problem. it does reset when moving after refuel. sometimes it takes 30 seconds. I have no technical information on this but I think it is triggered by the fuel level sensor/float having a positive delta.
but next time dont manually reset it just cruise out of the station with the MID set to Odometer A

^^nevermind what I said. It is more like 3 seconds -- but it's really just the movement--today I rolled about 1 foot after refueling and viola it zeroed out.
