I have an 04 MT TSX with 120k miles and I need to either replace the transmission or have it rebuilt, I think replacing it would be less expensive. My question is would a second gen TSX transmission fit my 04 or do I have to buy a 04-05 trans.

You could check with an Acura dealer, but there's no doubt in my mind that they're the same.

There may be a difference. When I checked car-part. com, they only list 04-05 as donors. I've found their cross-reference to be pretty accurate. Used trans are pretty expensive; $900-$1500 bucks. Pretty low supply also.

Rebuilding may be a viable option.

I been looking around and 04-05 6 Speed are hard to come by I talked to my mechanic and he quoted me around $2k to rebuild mine.

What symptoms are you having that make you think that the transmission needs replacing? Slow, awkward, missed shifts? Excessive effort trying to get it into a gear? Grinding when shifting? I had my 06 clutch replaced at 120,000 miles, and the transmission works better than it ever did.
