04 TSX 'hissing' sound
Hey all,
New here. Did quite a bit of reading around before I joined. I bought a 2004 TSX AT w/ Nav a couple months back approx. 93,000 miles. A short while after buying it, I noticed that upon any heavy acceleration, there is a fairly loud 'hissing' sound that has progressively gotten louder. I took it to my local dealership and they pulled the recall records on it. The only thing needing to be replaced was the power steering hose. They had no answer for the sound other than to get a new transmission. However, everywhere else I have looked, it seems to be a rare but real problem but doesn't seem to be causing any issues mechanically. Any ideas from owners? Have any of you seen encountered this? Thanks in advance!

I had this, but in my case it was the v-band separating on my comptech exhaust. When I drove next to a dividing wall with my window down, I could hear that the sound was coming from about the middle of the car. An exhaust leak should be a fair easy thing for a shop to check for. Make sure your airbox lid and air filter are properly installed and inspect vacuum hoses...

I got my 'hissing' sound checked out by Acura and they compared it to two other identical models and said its normal and wont hurt my car.. Maybe they just wanted my money without fixing anything, I have no idea... So according to Kearny Mesa Acura, this is normal...

Our engines do have a distinct and noticeable whine to them. Is this what you are describing? Or does it sound like hissing in the sense that high velocity air is escaping an orifice?
