Question 04 AT - engine revs up when braking to a stop/stopped

Just recently, the engine occasionally revs up when braking to a stop. Makes it feel like it's fighting the braking, before coming to the full stop. Or if it continues (at ~ 2-3K rpm) during the full stop, it feels like the car wants to jump out quickly when the brake is released.

Any suggestions? Would this sort of thing be covered under the warranty? (It seems every repair lately has been for "consumable" items.)

Thanks.

Woah, so the engine revs at 2-3K when you're stopped? That's not good. You need to take it in ASAP.

If coming to a stop on a downhill slope with the Automatic, the engine will downshift earlier than you'd think to assist with the brake. This happens to me every day pulling in to work where I have to take a left exit and coming from about 50mph to a stop on a downslope.

The effect is it actually lunges you backwards a bit, not forwards, as the revs assist the braking. Its quite noticeable.

That happen to me twice at late night when it was like freezing outside and I didn't warm up the engine long enough. I have 2004 6spd not Automatic.

2-3k rpm?? Could it be the IAC?

The TSX doesn't use IAC. It's best to take it to the dealer and have it checked out.

Of course it happened twice yesterday, but not the day before and not at all today. I hate intermittent problems. Yeah, I'm gonna schedule a service after the new year, and hope they can reproduce it. Hey, since the TSX is "throttle-by-wire" maybe this type of anomaly would be recorded on the car's computer.
