The left turn is dangerous and must be taken very slow and caution! Sorry you had to go through that. It must have been scary.

So, is the tsx strapped now or gonna be repaired?

This is a good accident. Airbags deployed and everyone walked away alive. You won't do that again.

Soon you'll start hearing a chorus of people telling you to dump the car because it will never be "quite the same". No idea your finances but that isn't always an option. You'd take a huge hit selling a car that was just in an accident and a big hit buying a new one to replace it early. If you can afford the $15k additional out of pocket then do it.

Otherwise just make sure they get the seals, trim, etc right and the new doors go thunk properly and live with a vehicle that will perm have 4% less "tortional rigidity" that those Howard Huges like 'Zine members who keep theirs wrapped in the factory plastic.

if the repair price is less than the current worth of the car, then the insurance company will fix it.

When i totalled my 2000 jetta vr6 GLX (sigh, i misssss you!!) the insurance wanted to fix it, but since it would cost more (or slightly less) than the actual car, they just gave me a check of 18G's (canadian)

You really should speak to an accident lawyer, cuz that's a total. My brother in law has been an auto mechanic for nearly 30 years and has fought with the insurance folks himself. I don't know about laws else where, but here in California, when the frame is bent, the car is no longer "safely" operable. It doesn't matter the cost for repair or how much your car is worth. It's all about safety. Not just that, after you sell the car, if the buyer is seriously injured or killed and they can prove the frame was damaged before the transaction, you are liable. My brother in law told me this and my accident lawyer confirmed. Seriously, talk to a lawyer.

yeah, you should try to get a total loss onthat, since that b pillar beam is bent.

its part of the safety cage, i'm sure if it gets "repaired" and you get hit in the same spot it could be much worse. 13,100 is probably pretty close to the total loss threshold, assuming it was not your fault they are probably just trying to screw you out of a new car since your car probably wont be quite the same.

if you can't ge tthem to give you a new car, make sure you get money for diminished value as well (obviously your car will be harder to sell if you sell it after repairing it)

i have a 05 tsx same color as that, and well that is pretty gruesome to look at. glad to see you are well enough to post obviously, i guess its reassuring that the tsx can take a beating like that. how fast was the other car going?
