I'm a tint newbie, what types of tint are there? I've heard of terms such as "limo, titanium, metallic, etc"

also will these tints affect the reception of our radio or navi antennas built into the rear window?

also if for some reason the tint peels or is removed from the rear, will it remove the defroster and antennas?

sorry to add on my own question to this thread, but does anyone have some factory-tint pictures? when i get my TSX in the upcoming months, it will be a lease, and i'm guessing the only tint that the dealer will allow, if any at all, will be the factory, so i was wondering if anyone had pictures of it.

most dealerships pay someone else to do it. They then charge you that places price plus the middle man charge. I'd call and ask.

Limo = dark tint 2.5%-10%visibility
Titanium = blocks 99.5% of all UVA/UVB radiation
(1) Metallic = A silver, gold or copper color that reflects light. (or)
(2) Metallic = A chemical compound added to tint to blocks 99.5% of all UVA/UVB radiation

Metallic tint will block transponder and radio signals, however the tint goes on the inside of the window and the FM antenna would not be affected. The Navi antenna is in the trunk and in not affected either.

Some cheap tints may take off the defroster and antennas. However, most professionals know how to properly take tint off (the steaming process), so professionally done you should have no problems.

I called some tint shops, I will probably go with one called Pro-Tint in Temple City, CA. They've been in business for 15 years and some of my friends said they do a good job. $169 cash.

They told me to go with "Beckart" or "Luminar" tint. Also something that will block UV rays, so i think they said it was "titanium".

I have carbon gray TSX and it's illegal to tint the front windows in CA. But i was thinking about going 35% in the rear 3 and 50% in the front anyway

I didn't know the navi antenna was in the trunk, that's good. so the defroster is inside the window, the fm/am antenna is outside the window? are these antennas visible?

I don't know the exact percentages of my tints, but I think they are 20% in the rear and 35% in the front.

This is my baby freshly tinted. Its 20%, which is illegal in Maryland, but, it looks pretty damn sharp. I went ahead and got the extra warranty incase I get pulled over and have to have the tint removed, its covered to take it off and put it back on.

I wanted Titanium, but shop owner told me it would interfere radio signal.....I just didn't wanna take chance so ordinary soke for me.
They use SunGuard. said it's better.

The thing is the pics just don't really show what it REALLYlooks like....
you have to look at the real thing, in front of your eyes...under different light, diff angles etc.

^^^ What I meant by front is the front driver and passenger side windows, not the front windshield. However, while I don't have front windshield tinted in the TSX, I do have my front windshield tinted in the Prelude (also in the Integra when I had the car). It is illegal to tint the front windshield in Calif. but I was willing to take that risk to tint the front windshield. I've had the windshield (in the Prelude) tinted for 6 years now, and I have not gotten a ticket for it......*knock on wood*.......I did get pulled over few times on something else.

It's funny this got bumped up today, got 2 tickets/summons for tint this morning. Already have a court date in Aug for the two I got in Feb. That's four in 2 months oppose to none in 20.

I have 5% tint all around which is illegal in MD. I also got the non-metallic tint so there is no issues with the navigation signal.
