The Time has come, The First One in the USA (LITO is this JDM enough for you)

The Biggest JDM Conversion Modification so far. I ordered this part back before christmas and I have managed to keep it a secret from the forum until now and here it finally is.

This modication has finally been done. To my knowledge I am the first one to do this part of the conversion. First off this mod is not for those looking for simple bolt on modifications cause it is no where near a direct fit and swap. First off you lose your steering wheel controls and your cruise control. Secondly, the steering wheel does not fit with out modification to the JDM steering wheel do to the location of wiring harnesses. Some dremeling of metal to largen the whole the the wiring harness comes through must be done. This does not however weeken the steering wheel in anyway as it is extremely beefy. Also in the process of this modification oyu actually lose functionality of your airbag too. This airbag connectors are not actually the same because Japanese airbags are singal stage and only have a 2 wire connection. US airbags since we also have side airbags are 4 wire connections cause they are dual stage airbags. Here are pictures with it installed and I am going to take the airbag out tomorrow and take some pictures of the modifications made to the steering wheel. So I do not think there will be many that will try this mod because 1) its is not a cheap mod 2) you no longer have a functioning airbag if you get the jdm airbag however I am looking into the EP3 (2002-2005 Civic SI) airbag cause it has the same steering wheel and is dual stage so the connector may be the same so it could possibly be used instead. 3) you have to modify the original part to make it fit the tsx.

Now for this pictures:

So there it is finally the full badge conversion inside and out is complete and once again I can sleep .

So Lito since my wheels are not JDM enough is this modification JDM enough for you.

So you lose cruise control, radio buttons, and airbag functionality, but gain a honda emblem.

You might have now officially lost your mind.

Damn man... it looks good and all, but that is scary as hell...

God, that would scare the shit outta me. I don't think any car mod is worth risking your life over! When I got your message about the airbag not working I figured you wouldn't use it! lol, I underestimated you!

But looks good and I hope nothing happens to you!

I was wondering when you were gonna reveal this mod to the forum.

Looks complete now...no more acura logos.

You'll be allright with no airbag. My air bags will not deploy either.

Looks nice...
However... if you wanted to be really innovative, all you had to do was find a way to rewire the cruise control and radio control buttons somewhere else. But that's a whole other thread.

You really put a lot of work into it. Personally, I'm not crazy about the look and the loss of functionality. But, hey, its your car and I can see why you would want to change it.

I am going to try to do a custom job for the wiring of the on the cruise control and locate the controls at another location. I am also still looking into getting an EP3 civic airbag so that it works again.

I mean its kinda scary but if you think about it people put racing wheels in there car that the centers are made of metal. Atleast with this wheel the center is not made of metal.

Yea I finally decided to reveal it.

It does look complete now.

Yeah I mean its not like I have a metal race wheel to bust my head up on it I hit the steering wheel. However if that car ever gets in a wreck I think I will just jump off the nearest bridge.

The only functionality loss that kinda bothers me is the loss of the cruise control. With how tall I am the radio control are right at my fingertips still. Also I listen to XM Radio a lot on long trips anyways so I just use the remote.

dang you mod like a mofo.

it's cool. i would have gotten the dc5r steering wheel myself, but nice.

i remember talkin with dabuda about changing my steering wheel b/c i remember there was a pwp tsx in canada that swapped his steering wheel with a race one with a nsx honda badge on the wheel - but after talking with him, i decided it wasn't worth it.

When I look @ your first picture, I was like "Who the hell swap the Full Functional Acura steering wheel w/ this Honda piece of ....." . Before I said the last word, I looked @ the second/third picture, I was like "Oh SHIT~!!! Honda Crossover MOMO` THat's InsanE~!!!"
Very nice mod, respect~!

Just wanna know if the Acura steering wheel (the centre piece) will fit on the MOMO?? And do I still need to re-wire the Cruise Control and Radio button that way?

I am curious whats the difference with the DC5 wheel other than the red stiching. There is no red in the car so why would I want red stiching.
