Judges look for cleanliness of the vehicle as well as other mods done. You will actually see judges run their fingers inside your wheels, and under the side kick panels to look for dirt and grime.
It's an old set-up used by lazy bastards to fill in those spots and use it as part of their display to prevent anyone from looking . You see it a lot on daily drivers in shows.
I think it takes away from the car, but it is easy and cheap to do. If I were a judge, I'd take points away for that crap, as it shows that you don't really spend as much time taking care of your show car as one should, daily driven or not.

Sorry I would have been there is they didn't schedule prom the same damn weekend. I was really pissed I wanted to go and win JDM. Did you see any good JDM cars. Also anyone stay for the awards to see what actually won in JDM.
