Realtime @ Mosport

It was a wet weekend at Mosport for the Speed World Challenge and ALMS races, but I had a great time. I'm still going through all the pics I took, but here are a few that I have uploaded:

Hey Dan; did you happen to see the throttle pedal for the tsx? Do you know if it's mechanical or drive-by-wire?

Pics look amazing as useual. I wouldn't expect anything less from you though. I hope to make it to one of those races sometime in the next year or two. I think my trip this year might be to Las Vegas for SEMA.

They use a cable actuated throttle body and MoTeC engine management.

Audi in first, then places 2nd through 5th were all owned by Realtime. It was a very impressive showing considering their lack of AWD and the ton of rewards weight they were carying.

Did the TSX's appear to have any real problems with specific parts of the track; I'm guessing the Audi left everything else behind coming out of 5B, leading up onto the Andretti straight? But could anything catch it on the way up? Looks like people were being careful through Turn 1, but what about through 2/3? And what lap times were they running?

Coming back from taking my daughter (and everything in the world that she owns) back to university we just happened to drive by Mosport, on Friday pm. I asked my wife if perhaps we should stop in, but, well, that's why I'm asking you what happened.

The TSX is extremely well balanced around the entire track but it's a little slower out of the corners than the Audi. The Quattro system made a huge difference in the wet conditions. It's hard to tell when you're standing trackside, but it looked like the TSX was gaining on the straights. I'd have to watch the show to see if that's really the case though.

The best time for the Audi was 1:42.467 compared to Kleinubing's 1:43.942. Brandon Davis finished 2nd, 6.491 seconds behind the Audi but that gap is larger than it sounds.

They post a full review on the World Challenge website after every race. Here's the one for this weekend: http://www.world-challenge.com/news/story.php?ID=410

A couple of quotes from that article really tell it all:

But today, I’m really impressed how well these guys drove and how well their cars handled, because the only advantage I saw was coming out of Turn Five, which is a really slow turn, so it’s just about traction. Everywhere else it was pretty heads-up with them.

^^If all Audi had to offer was a 1 corner advantage, I'd say it was a great race then. Obviously the Mazda's didn't show up with their A game, but that's a pretty well know fact they don't do great in the rain. I think RTR just has the right engineers in place to get the cars setup very well and the drivers just (Curran, Kleinubing, Cunningham) have the experience. Davis is learning and has youth. I wish Nick could bring it a little more, but he is doing well for him. It is just a very good team.

2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th ain't bad.

All they need is a 2nd place finish at the next race and they have the championship wrapped up.
