Painted Calipers Black

hey guys. just a little update. if you read my thread on the wheels section i was debating on what color to paint my calipers. i went ahead and painted them black. since i didn't update here with any pics. so far i just painted calipers, a spec kit, trunk lip, debadge, and some LED replacements. enjoy ^^

Looks good! I need to do mine but too lazy? I got black caliper paint from hrj too and I can't wait to paint mine! BTW how much time did you spend to paint all four?

umm painting all 4 took me about 4 hours+. i only had two OEM jacks. i did 4 coats on each caliper each taking about 20 minutes to dry in between. i did take a lunch break and some friends came over. but yeah the job is pretty tiring. wish i had a nice big car jack to use though

hairdryer+ dental floss. mine came off easy since it was so new. the rest of the glue i just used my thumb and pushed forward and it all slide right off. now i helped my friend do this to his tC and his is about a few months old. it was a different story. we used an eraser and it basically got the rest of the glue off on his car. no damage done at all to either cars . some say goo gone works but then many say goo gone is bad so yeah

have a friend hold a hair dryer on the spot while your using dental floss, it will go right through the glue, you might use multiple strings of floss becasue they break kinda easy. took me about 20 minutes total. i used a type of goo gone for the residue and it worked just fine. no damage to paint

Looking good. I did mine in about an hour, for three coats per caliper. The key is four jack stands and a floor-jack. Car up on stands, all wheels off, clean the calipers, then go to town.

Very simple mod, and only about 2 hours, paint rotors and all.

You can order the decals from Jays98cobra on the "other" tsx site. Really nice guy.He also has the demensions of the decals on there somewhere. I just happen to have a vinyl shop down the street from me, so I got mine local.

I just used brake cleaner and wiped 'em down, then used high temp caliper paint. By the time I got the rotors on , the paint was dry and ready to go.

The easiest visual mod I've done to the car...and minus the rotors, the cheapest one too!!

Forgot to mention, they have held up to 2 or 3 high pressure washes, and still look like new!!

Yup. I did black with white decals and seeing that shot of red re-affirmed my decision. Definitely not feeling it.

I feel proud to have personally re-awakened the caliper decal trend, by the way...

Someone please post a vendor for the decals, I'm mildly interested, and I'm sure others would like to know.

so I take it you don't have to remove the caliber to paint it? Where can I find some good paint?

nope there is no need to remove the calipers. All i did was buy the duplicolor caliper paint kit at pepboys for $15. its a kit that comes with everything. it has alcohol cleaner, paint, brush. you spray the cleaner on then you brush on the paint. i did 4 coats and its holding up very good. theres another brand called G2 caliper paint which will run you from $30-$50. you can find the G2 paint on ebay.
