Noticeably Absent: Been Cheating on the wife

I never knew having an affair with an Italian lady could take so much out of you. As you can see by the pic, that's 1 1/2 hours on her wearing my helmet of course.

I've already modified her too. Took off a high beam block out plate, which did nothing more than make the high beams totally useless at night and I took off the reflectors on the license plate bracket and front fender. She comes with a seat to make the bike biposto, but I went ahead and took the rear pegs off because the wife isn't interested in a two-some.

That's absolutely gorgeous. Congrats on the acquisition... and be safe! You're a smart guy so I don't think I need to tell you you should get some good-quality leathers to go with that gorgeous Italian machine.

Thanks. I got a good leather jacket (not Dainese or anything) , gloves and a helmet (seen in the background).

Yeah, its been my dream bike for 17 years since the 916. I test drove a 998 in 2002 and the wifey tells me, "I want kids." So that's why I picked up the TSX. Fast forward 6 years and I get this unbelieveable deal on a brand new 1098 with 2 miles on it. Picked it up in Lexington, KY and drove it 116 miles back up to my area on 9/20. It is an absolute amazing ride. I've riden CBRs and GSXRs... this is simply different. I'm not some stunter either, I just drive it like it is supposed to be driven. It handles amazingly too. I took some corners after the 100 miles for the tire to come to life. WOW!!

Yeah, it makes leaving work a little easier. I have a list of mods that I plan on doing to it and maybe even see if Kpierson can build a module or two for the bike. I have a few ideas up my sleeve.

Wow, I'm jealous . Ride safe.

I was considering picking up a used 749s next spring (love the vertically stacked headlights), but knowing me it's probably not a good idea .

Sweet bike. I think I would enjoy a motorcycle immensely but I'm too scared (of other drivers) to get one. I do have this though, it looks alot like yours but is made of Legos:

Yours is probably much more fun, mine was alot easier on the wallet.

Enjoy. That is seriously a sweet bike. Congrats.

The bike looks great! Enjoy it but I thought Ducati aren't that good with handling?

The are quite good actually.

Honestly, I didn't see the need to drop $30k on a bike that I wasn't going to ever track. Remember, that is a 180hp, traction controlled bike... and for good reason. Sorry mate, the 1098 is all I needed. Even the 1098s is a bit ridiculous. $20k for a bunch of carbon bits and improved suspension and Termi exhaust, which is welded rather pitifully. FYI, there is going to be a 1198 released in November that will be close to $17k for the base 1198. That is the same motor, but bigger, found in the 848. The 1098 and 848 do not share the same motor construct, so that ought to be sweet to see.

Yeah, I guess I sorta did shyte on that idea didn't I. My plan right now is to modify the stock exhaust to remove the cats and baffles. This has a two-fold effect, decrease in heat transfer to my arse and announce to all that I'm in the county.

And if Kevin can make this exhaust valve delete module idea work, it will clean up so much on the bike under the fairings.

Do it, you won't regret it. CBR is a nice bike, no doubt, but the Ducati is just a premium brand made all by hand and the motor in the 848 is Ducati's new motor which will be made to make the 1198 powerplant.

I think you should do an exhaust delete and just dump the exhaust right into the ground right in front of the rear wheel. Obviously I don't know if you can do it on the ducati but I have seen it done on other bikes and it makes them look so clean.

Announcing you are in the area is always a good thing haha.

Welcome to the Ducatisto Club Moda Great bike. I had a measly 800 SS then traded that in for a ST2, rolling the idea of getting the new 696 Monster in my mind. I would suggest being careful with modding the 1098 now as I'm sure you are aware that may void the warranty. Also make sure you follow the scheduled maintenance or that will also void the warranty. Ducati's are beautiful bikes and I love them, the only type of motorcycle I have owned, but they are pricey to repair.
