the 225/40/18 helps w/ not rubbing when the offset is that low. your rear wheel lip looks deeper in that 1 side pic

^^ I thought so too (different lip depth) so I found this at http://www.axiswheels.com/ :

All new Axis Wide Track Maxis System now available!

Axis Wheels pioneered the Maxis Lip technology that allows front wheel drive cars to have a bigger lip on the rear wheel, and now we are proud to introduce the pinnacle of that technology in our newest wheel, the Axis Wide Track. The first wheel of it's kind, the Axis Wide Track is available in 2 widths (18x8 and 18x9), but with three lip sizes (50mm, 80mm for 18x8, and 110mm for the 18x9). The 18x9 110mm lipped wheel is only available for certain RWD applications or FWD cars with flared fenders and/or complete widebody kits. See the Interactive Wide Track System Guide to see how the Wide Track's Maxis Lip System works.--end snip--

yeah the front has a 50mm lip and the rear has 80mm. Thanks for all the good words, I was expecting someone was gonna flame me for the RWD look. But it is mainly to show ppl that the 40et would fit and look flush with no problems. I couldnt find a definite answer when i was looking.

Thanks guys, I'll wash her up and take more pics of the lip as soon as it stops raining. We're expecting rain til atleast tuesday so it's gonna be a bit. I originally wanted Volk GT7's but i came across these. I got them really cheap cause they were used on a showcar here and the guy didnt want them anymore.

I don't understand, how does the front and rear have different lips with the same offset? Is the face curved differently or anything?

yeah the face is slightly curved differently and there is less behind the center (the lugnut area) and the rear lugnuts actually stick out a but more than the front ones. I'll take pics specifically to show you what i mean when it stops raining.
