New Attempt at Photography

I recently tried out this HDR format of photography, wanted to know what you guys thought.

I only made one, but I just need some constructive criticism

Thanks again guys.

Happy modding.

I use a Nikon D70S, and it's called HDR photos, High Dynamic Range. Process uses 3 different exposure shots, and blend them together. First time trying this, thanks for the comments guys!

Not bad except you've lost definition in the rear light clusters.
A bit too hot, otherwise not half bad at all.

Is that image color corrected?

If not, I think you messed up a bit on the exposure settings because the sky
shouldn't be that dark in HDR.

Very, very cool! Almost like an ad!

I wish I had the knowledge and patience to make something like this myself. Some of you may take it for granted but I find it very impressive.

Here are some of my thoughts on the shot:

The clouds in the sky are still blown out (no detail in them)

It also looks like you've done some "burn shadows" in photoshop on the garage door and sky and it seems a bit patchy.

A high dynamic range image can really pop, i think you need to work on making it look more natural... The picture below is a good example of HDR

Just thought I'd offer some constructive criticism like you asked for, keep shooting and sharing

Yup, I'm still working on the settings of the HDR, it didn't come out as good as I planned it to be. I'm going to try another one this Monday

Looks great. I don't know much about photography but the car really stands outs which makes the pic for me.

As long as you have a camera which you can manually change exposure, then you can create HDR images.

I think that the clouds SHOULD have a bit more detail to them, but I guess my settings weren't set correctly. I know that they should pop more, but could it be the fact that I'm facing towards a shadow-ed area?

I didn't touch it up at all in photoshop actually, it's straight from the photomatix program that I use. My thoughts are that my tripod is a bit shaky. The images probably didn't align properly. Hence why it's a bit too grainy, and unclear. Although HDR shots are going to have a bit of noise in them, mine have a lot. Time to invest in a new tripod? The 35$ from walmart tripod ain't cuttin' it

HDR images should actually have less noise than a single shot because the noise is cancelled out by the other frames. I accidently shot a 5 exposure bracket at ISO 800 and when merged, it looked like an ISO 100 image.

The only time you'll get more noise than if you had a single shot is when you push an HDR image beyond the data that is contained. In other words, if you make something brighter than the brightest frame or darker than the darkest frame you captured, you're going to introduce noise or other artifacts into the image.

Ah, noted, so therefore it was the settings that I've used in the program, such as Saturation and the Brightness factors correct? I'm going to have to fiddle around with this more later.

Hmm, maybe you aren't covering a wide enough dynamic range with your different exposures?

Do you have photoshop?

Next time, try blending the correctly exposed sky in manually

Well here's my second attempt. Let me know what you think. I used an old picture. Should be familiar to CGTSX2004.
