I know it's crap lol
well IMHO, Sony Prosumers are top of their league, i know Canon die hards will
disagree.. heheh most ccd's are made by sony (inclouding Nikon's dSLR)

Right you are, most if not all CCD's are made by Sony but the CCD plays a very small part in overall picture quality. Canon and Nikon have the market on lenses which play a larger role.
But there's very little differene between Canon, Nikon and Sony DigiCam's. Its all a matter of personal preference and the photographer of course.

I disagree... IMO ccd plays a big part, with crappy film and super good lens, the pic is still
gona be crappy.
High mp with small CCD = bad... that's why i think the 828 isn't as good as the 717...
perhaps the 4 colour managment thing is cool but.. i think ti's really pushing the 2/3"
But for sure, lens makes huge diff, both play a vital role... when i first got my cam 2
years ago, the Zeiss was like a Canon...
#45
on the subject of the lens... yeah Nikon/Canon are the two big players in the SLR..
buying a camera body = buying a printer... it's useless unless u buy their lens/ink
of course u can always get aftermarket but of lesser quality

Ex, The term "4MP CCD"
Ex, The term "4MP CCD"
CCD is like the sensor/processor
like a roll of film in the traditional cameras...
also like film, the bigger the better... bigger ccd can get more details... less noise more sharp and clear. exactly like film, that is why we have medium format cameras.. and best
example is IMAX... the film is huge so it can be blowned up ... if it was shot with normal
film, at the size the movie is just gona be blurry and grainy

For example my camera 717
"5MP CCD" it can hold 5 million pixals on a 2/3" chip..
on the 828
"8MP CCD" same chip but processs 8MP... there is less surface area per MP... (hope u are
not lost )
where compared to dSLR... the size of the D70 chip is 23.7 x 15.5 mm for a 6MP
that chip is bigger and less MP than 828 (of course add in the lens factor) the d70 will
have a better pictor quality ...

Ok, but a 5 MP CCD will not always have better results than a 3 MP CCD. There are other factors at play including the lens are how the image is processed. There are other sensors and processors in a digital camera besides the CCD. How those sensors work together is what determines the best pic.
A prof photorapher using a Nikon Dig SLR nearly bit my head off a few years ago when I asked him how many MP his camera was.

yeah of course
his camera prob have a 4MP...
but this 4mp is diff than a prosumer 4 mp cause his pic can prob enlarged to 12x16 or
something without much problem...
i totally agree with u... just wut i ment was... the CCD is the brains of the camera.. and u
are right, without the arms and the legs.. the brain is useless
edit: going to class.... cont this discussion with u later

Neo, Could you explain why you wanted the H badge ??? Why you went thru with the cost & trouble ?
I am just very very curious. ...don't get it.
Honda brand junkie ? Uniqueness ?....
Personally I think the H emblem is the uglist (well after Saturn) ...heck maybe Honda itself thinks so but too late.
And looks like your wheels still have the A emblem, no ?

Neo, those are some excellent pics! Wow! Edit: Do you have an enlarged size of the "last one" pic (first post in page 3) and of the very first pic? TIA!
Clutch, who uses a CCD camera (and some other stuff) to count molecules in flames.

Neo-
Awesome pics. You really have the ability to rise above the mundane with your photos. They have an arty quality to them. Hope your able to continue to post TSX pics in the future, if only to satisfy the TSX junkies on this board
BTW, if you were to recommend one SLR style digital camera to a lifelong film camera user, would it be the Sony you have, or something else? Assume money is not a huge issue, and that lens changeability is important. I'm not a point and shoot kind of guy.
TIA.
Cheers,
Johnny

Thank you for ur comment TIA.
SLR Style camera would have to be any of the dSLR's... mine is not.. just a higher end
"prosumer" camera.... a "consumer" type of camera with most features of a SLR..
but image wise, any dSLR can eat my camera with a spoon.... :o (prosumers can not interchange
lens)
well from your comment, i would assume you are totally into photography and
throughout ur photo hobbie career... u've gathered a lot of equipment ie lens ... so i m
gona take a bold step by imagin you are a hard core pro in that case...
digital cameras concepts apply to most film cameras... because you've got a lot of lens
from nikon (example) with ur film camera... why not stick with nikon? other wise
it's gona be very expansive .... also all the menu and buttom systems are the same for
each brand...
at the lower end of the dSLR market, there is the Canon Digital Rebel, Nikon D70, and the
Pentax *stD price range fomr 800-1300 USD) if i wana upgrade then i'll be in this market
the price of these cameras have droped a lot in the past year... two years ago when
i bought my sony, it was in this price range.. :'(
next level up would be the Canon 10D, Nikon D100 and others... (this is perhaps where
u wana look into)
or if u have a lot of money... then check out Canon's 13MP 1Ds ... or Kodak's DCS Pro..
i have no preference in any of the dSLRs at the moment cause i don't own one...
but the important thing is, once u bought one (assuming then u don't have any lens),
u gota commit to that brand for lens... of course there is always aftermarket...)
www.depreview.com
www.steves-digicams.com
are two very good sites that review all the digital cameras on the market... u should take
a look and check out the samples.... dpreview has a lot of info.. but i find steve's review
are more to my taste
hope this helps
Kevin.

Nah, I'm hardly a pro. I just like the versatility an SLR provides. One lens never seems to satisfy for all situations. All I have is an older Pentax SLR, which has served me well. I've just been impressed with the images I've seen posted with digicams. I had a perception that they weren't very good, but your pics alone disprove that.
I also like the fact that photos can be posted on the web and emailed, etc, without having to resort to scanning, not to mention the control you have with PhotoShop, etc. I guess it's time I joined the new milennium
I'll check out the links. Thanks for the info.

Ummmm - NeoChaser, it's not http://www.depreview.com, just http://www.dpreview.com.
And I agree, both of those sites are awesome - main reason I have a PowerShot G3 and not a PowerShot G5.

Nice pictures NeoChaser! Did you take other pictures of the Mazda 3 too? If so, please post. I am looking into buying one soon for the wife.
What's the feedback on those cars? They like good value for the money.
Meantime, we are enjoying our new TL with Nav.
