I had an accident ... or ... time for a 2006 Mugen bumper?

Well, some of you know my feelings on body kits but its has come time that I consider something. I had a very minor accident today, but it sure was enough to ruin my day.

Just the bumper and headlight are ruined, and the rest of the front end is thankfully unhurt. Insurance is gonna do their part. I asked them if I could source out a new bumper and headlights and do it myself since the last thing I need is some insurance shop bondo-ing my brand new TSX and re-painting the whole front half to make it match and dropping its value substantially. They have agreed to pay me the amount of their estimate and let me do it myself.

Now I know this will no where come close to the cost for new jdm parts, but to me this is as good of a reason as any to get some, if someone else is gonna pay for some. I think of it as a bad-luck 30% discount.

I've emailed boomplus for a quote on a mugen bumper (price and arrival date) and jdm headlights (if they can even get them).

Can anyone point me to the source for the 'best' price/service for Mugen bumper and JDM headlights? This is for a 2006 of course.

So, my bad luck might lead into the next phase of modding this car. Truly a phase I never wanted to go down, but now I'm forced to at least consider it. Also, any more large pics of a 2006 Mugen TSX would be very nice, as all I've found googling it are tiny little pictures with no detail.

May this not happen to you.

You might have more things damaged underneath, which is always the danger of doing it yourself. In my recent accident the shop decided to replace the bumper and 1 headlight after initially saying they'd only repaint the bumper, but after the teardown there was additional damage. I wanted to pocket the money and get the Modulo bumper, but in the end I was just happy having my car repaired.

I'd check kingmotorsports for the mugen bumper, they might have them in stock, their site mentioned they had a crate coming in. but you'll pay a premium there since there the official distributor of Mugen in the US

I don't suppose anyone with experience removing the bumper would want to help me do it sometime this week and inspect for further damage. There's a dinner and some beers in it...

I'll help if you need a hand. But idk if once you remove it you will be able to get it back on... so keep that in mind.

fyi, another thing to keep in mind, generally whenever a panel is repainted, the panels next to it are blended as well to match. i doubt the insurance company is going to let you pocket the money for blending paint, although you might ask

Am I the only one who can't get excited about the new Mugen design?

I've been looking at this picture all weekend, and I gotta say I can't rationalize the $$ for it. I just don't like it. Especially when replacing w/ OEM will run me around $500. The savings alone pays for JDM headlights

I really wish there were more options. I dig the 04/05 Mugen bumper but this new one fails to capture my attention.

The reason the new mugen bumper bothers me is the fact it blocks the center airway completely with that stupid licence plate block which I am pretty sure is solid. I also think it needs the side slits like the 04/05 one had. I like the 04/05 bumper and the 06 lip but not the other way around.

However I still think the 06 mugen bumper looks better than the 06 stock bumper.

I for one really like the 06 Mugen bumper, I'd get it someday if it could be retrofit onto an 04/05. I'm not a fan of the 04/05 Mugen bumper because of the slits on the sides, looks weird to me Get whatever you like best

Sorry bout your car. That sux! The new mugen sux because of that lame license plate acre. I dislike bumpers that have a specific spot for a license plate. With the oem bumper you can at least take the plate off and not think about it. That Mugen bumper screams "give me a ticket" if you remove the plate since there is pretty mucha big sign that says "Front license plate suppose to go here!"
