I got DVD in my car now!

I just installed a DVD player in my car over the weekend...took me a long time, but it was worth it. I'll probably not do anything close to it again in the near future, that was a lot of time spent!

are two LCD screens overkill? Now I can play dvd/Video CD/MP3 and also watch TV with the tv tuner. I can also plug in a game system with it too. It's reverse camera capable..but I'll leave that project to another day.

more pics here at ---> Picture gallery

That's definitely the right spot for that screen. And the install looks nicely done.

I don't mess with the screen with I'm busy with traffic, so you won't see me smacking into the tree

I used the Acura Audio install kit. It's pricey (70-80 bucks) but I think it's the most secure way to install a head unit, plus the front plate fits the interior the best.

TV reception really depends on where I'm at. Certain cities have poor overall reception. I get good reception in my garage though..even with garage door closed

Thanks..I got that like 2 years ago..it's a discontinued model, but it has so many features that I still use it today.

Yes, there is. I thought about that also.

problems with that is:
1) Quality of the switched video signal leaves much to be desired. From many pictures I saw, the video is washed out, blurry, and has noise. And switching back and forth can get tedious
2) Cost of a switchbox + getting dvd/videocd/mp3 player can add up. Also, I wanted a more integrated solution, and separate unit can complicate wiring and installation, in addition to cost

Also it's just so cool to have a fold-out screen

Yes, but why would you in this case. I am scared of people with the DVD in the front seat.

Yeah, I did. I actually got a lot of ideas from them, and they handed out a couple pointers for me when installing it. It's fun to share ideas and I'm glad it worked out successfully

I got all the cost below $1000 (barely). You'll need the headunit, OEM install kit, wires, fuse holder, tape, etc.. I do have the SNHOND3 line in adapter though, so you'll need that first. That was the only way I could think of without taking apart the connection to the stock amp. In theory, yes, it can be done on the Accord w/ Navi...does Honda make a audio install kit for the Accord?

Because we got everything we need for DVD. It would only seem reasonable to make the drive DVD compatible.

Still dont know how safe it is in the front seat of a car, personally would find it very distracting, prob one of the reasons the rents wouldnt let me get the navi.... Still looks good...and allways thought that Spot would be perfect for a DVD screen set up

Yeah, i would hate to have parents like yours. Only buying me the non-navi version of an Acura

Just wait a few years and you can have whatever you want and not give other people heck for having something you're jealous of.

So I was wondering, is this unit a touchscreen? Because I was thinking that I could pass on the Nav system (if I end up picking a TSX up) and purchase a unit like this one and get the GPS system software installed so that I could have everything in one unit (DVD/MP3/CD/NAV). Has anyone gone this route before? And what is the estimated cost on a unit like this?

This unit is not a touchscreen. I didn't need it since I already have a navi. That, and also less fingerprints A higher-end model can be had for a little more, and that has touchscreen and a bit more features. You would probably be better off picking up a unit that has built in NAVI also if you do not plan on getting the TSX with navi. I prefer the stock navi because it is more integrated with the car, which makes the interior much better looking.
