you all were right =(

Well you was right about the VAFC. We tried and tried but couldn't get it to read TPS value. I'll still dyno Friday or Monday, but I'm rather dissapointed. If I could've anticipated this, then I would've went ahead and did the hytech reflash already.

anways, on to more pics. as you can see ... the design of the header changed slightly from the aluminium prototype. as you can see it's ceramic coated stainless steel, as is the higher flowing cat:

the collector still slips on perfectly and seals tight

Here' the new cat next to the old one

the machined black looks really nice, but i'd like to see it in a pic with more-natural lighting.

love advans. i really can't decide which to save up for--the kreuzer xi's (which i know a handful of guys on here have) or maybe some volks.

anyways, header and cat look sweet. keep us posted on everything.

i was thinking about the black myself, but i would only by those wheels if they were a significant drop in weight from my 20.5 lb enkei's

btw, the new cat is a carsound/magnaflow unit

that's too bad about the VAFC.

Good looking exhaust components though!

Why did they opt not ceramic coat the collector? I liked the look of the shinny header more but it's not like you can really see it anyway. Function over form is definitely ideal in this case.

You should drop in a k-pro now since you needs something anyway.

^ not sure what the reasoning was not to coat the merge, i'll inquire upon pickup (prob mon or tues)

i should've went with the kpro originally, but i've spent some of that $ already =9

Diggin' those Corbeau seats.

I almost picked up a pair for my last Gti...but never pulled the trigger.

How do they compare comfort-wise?

Those headers are sick!

the corbeau's are easily the most comfy aftermarket seats i've been in. thigh bolstering could be a little more performance oriented, but the side bolsters more than make up for it.

i absolutely love it and so does everyone who's sat in them thus far

Lookin good man! Love the look of that header! K-Pro would be the way to go later. Maybe you can sell the VAFC and buy K-Pro a little later.

Keep it up

My 18x8 Kreutzer Xi's are 18.5lbs each without tire. They're hyper-silver, so these machined ones may be a pound or two heavier... but in general Advan make light, strong wheels. The black machined would look phenomenal on your car.

Vinny, you're making me proud my friend. I remember the time you almost decided to jump into an audi. I'm glad you're still in the honda game and doing big things down there in Tampa. Looking forward to seeing your car in march.

thanks eric! oh, are you a cop yet?

you're correct, i almost wrote a check for an audi s5 in dec 2007 - glad i didn't due to the economy

not sure what direction i'm headed in next:
- continue building tsx
- sell tsx after a few more months of enjoyment and build a dynamic dd s2k
- sell the tsx and build a stunning rdx
* selling tsx would mean i would have to purchase a beater while a new build commences

money is a concern, but it's not the only concern. i've learned that my passion is cars, without a doubt, and that spending MY money on what i enjoy is ok in moderation

any thoughts

You have gone on a modding streak lately. Don't let it stop! Although the advan wheels look nice, I would really consider the amount of lip and spoke concavity that the weak tsx offsets and wheel width will yield.

Otherwise, I'm really looking forward to seeing the machined/black RS-D on a NBP

tend to lose their aggressive look on TSX's because we have to run
high offsets to get them to fit properly.

also all wheels with lips and spokes that end before the lip look much
smaller in person. it's like taking the rim down an extra inch in diameter.
no not only will it look less aggressive due to the spoke concavity, it will also
look smaller than thought due to it's design, using dipped spokes and a lip.

therefore, the best choice usually for our car is a full faced rim if you are
going 18's. no lip, no dipped spokes. and a rim that is not dependent on
concave spokes for an agressive look.
to run a lip and dipped spokes, and still have them look not small, 19's are
usually needed on our car. otherwise the 18's just look like 17's or 16's.
and many people buy the rims expecting them to be aggressive looking, because
the stock picture is like a +20 offset, but the +42-+48 offsets we need
end up looking much less aggressive.

and in addition, if you're dependent or looking for a deep lip, the high offsets
will prevent that in many cases. so the offsets not only will cause the spokes
to be less concave, but it will also decrease the size of the lip.

I think he was just trying to point that out. that probably those rims would
look much less aggressive and smaller than you would think on your TSX.
that's my guess.

Nice header. For some reason, the welding doesn't look to be aluminum. It looks more like stainless to me... Btw, did you also ceramic coat the inside?

JTso, it is stainless steel ... however, the exhaust is aluminum. i believe the coating is only on the outside, but i'll have to double-check when i pick up my car tomorrow

lol, the longest post in any of my threads is always reserved for you

thanks for the detailed explanation, as that's what i got out of the original post

i probably wont buy these new advans since the offset/bbk clearance/concaveness is too sketchy for now

but, i'm always on the lookout for a stylish, light-weight, stong wheel

We have found for the Euro R, that rims offset 40 is absolute max. Usual is 43 to 45 offset. 18's and 19's helps to make perception bigger, but a lot has to do with rims design. Agreed that spooks concave or convex when viewed, makes perception a lot different. The run length of the spooks towards a "inner rim" will make the spooks looked smaller if concave or convex.

A simple experiment, even 17's are offset to 40 to 43, makes the car look more aggressive as the curves of the car compliments the lowered suspension. The 1st principle of making this model look good, is that the rims has to minimum flush with the fenders or a little pushed outwards i.e offset towards 40 with a lowered suspension and get a minimum of 225 to ensure that it looks good frome the rear too....

I can tell you right now that with the Advan Kreutzer Xi/RS style, BBK clearance isn't really a concern. The spoke design is very forgiving to a larger caliper; my rotora 1pc BBK fits with almost an inch to spare, with no spacers. This is on a +48 offset, at that.

Either way, I'm sure whatever wheels you pick for your car will be phenomenal. Have you considered a time-attack CE28N?

no time attacks for vinny

so far, i really love my enkei gtc01, but i'm always snooping for something better

i'd like to stay within a price range of $200-400 per wheel, but get something lighter

of course, it has to have a certain "grown-up" look and clear my rotora bbk as well
