let's keep this thing going!
new aluminum header, being black ceramic powder coated as we speak:
The TSX here has a few upgrades already but one thing holding it back is the tiny header with little primarys and 2.25" collector. It then goes into a 2.25" cat which does help either.
We built a 4-1 header, with stepped primarys, eaqual to within 1" going into a merge collectors with a 2 3/8" throat then to 2.5" exit.
Due to the mass produced headers on the market you don't see many hand crafted headers to this quality these. Most people building headers focus more on making it looks shiney and fit in a box to ship to someone across the country.
There's very little caculating involved, this is more important than the rest of the exhaust system,.
plenty of ground clearance

approx $2500 for custom aluminum header and exhaust, as well as a larger cat
the header is being ceramic powder coated now
weight savings is exceptional
build quality, as you can see, is exceptional too
oh, that includes a dyno tune too (paid for apexi afc separate)
performance numbers should be in by friday:
- last run was at 186whp
- new run shall be updated with new h/c/e, hondata, and apexi afc

Yikes, too rich for my blood but I'm glad some one is out there pushing the envelope. Now that the R&D is done you should talk to whoever built this for you about selling it as a kit. I've got my fingers crossed that you'll get some impressive numbers out of all this.

$2500 aint too shabby for custom work with tune imo. i doubt john at LHT performance will make it a kit, but i can ask. definitely cheaper than the hytech setup and should produce similar numbers, if not better

the apexi AFC works with our cars? I thought I heard that it didn't? Can you elaborate on that and how you plan on using it, I'm curious about it myself.

yeah, clarification with the apexi AFC would be appreciated. didn't know it worked with our cars either.
very cool build so far. i'll def keep track of the thread as i'm an AT myself.
i've pondered trying the 6speed conversion but way down the road. like if i just have money to burn and all the other stuff in life is kind of in order (house, 2nd car for wife, etc...).

doug from hondata recommended the afc to me as opposed to upgrading to the hytech reflash. not sure how it's all going to work, but doug has a tsx and if he says it'll work, THEN IT WILL
john and paul at LHT Performance have been doing all the work, i'll ask them how they configured everything when i pick the car up in a few days

I think he could probably sell a limited number of the kits pretty easily just because the closest competitor (Hytech) is both insanely expensive and takes for freaking ever. The market isn't huge but it could be an easy source of income for the guy since the measurements are all worked out now. He could even build them on demand and still have a substantially faster turn around than Hytech.

i got ya
the turn-around time would be within 2-3 weeks (shipped)
and that would include ceramic powder coating, if purchased
all fabrication is done in house (powder coating is sent to elsewhere)
once i get dyno numbers, and IF people are genuinely interested, then i'll gather some serious info on these products

very interesting, when Doug takes a look at it and hooks it up would you mind posting how he did it and what is required for it to work? Thanks!

Hey nice TSX! I am also thinking about a custom exhaust system with either a carbon muffler or magnaflow muffler. Do u have a hi flow cat as well? is it really loud ? Also, how much did u pay for seats? Thanks !

clee, what good is acurazine if i don't share my info? of course, i will keep you all enlightened
valertaj, i haven't even picked up the car yet so i'm unsure how loud the entire i/h/c/e will sound. i've had the custom exhaust on my car for a couple weeks now and that alone is a bit louder than my old greddy evo2. i'm anticipating increased exhaust note and a bit of resonance, but i will update you all as we move forward

also, the aluminum header was used as a prototype apparently and the header going on my car will be stainless steel and ceramic coated.
john suggested this since i may go boost later on and need to be weary of underhood temps

So you decided to go without a flex connection on the header? I'd be a little worried about the torqueing of the engine when you stomp on it. The workmanship looks great though.
